SMU’s Boopie Miller Likely Out Again as Stanford Hosts Home Finale
SMU is expected to play its fifth consecutive game without leading scorer Boopie Miller when the Mustangs travel to face Stanford in an ACC matchup on Saturday.
SMU Adjusting Without Miller
The Mustangs (21-7, 12-5 ACC) have gone 2-2 since Miller was sidelined with a bruised foot. Prior to his injury, SMU had won five straight, including an 85-61 rout of Stanford on Feb. 1 in Dallas.

Miller leads SMU with 13.4 points, 5.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, making his absence a significant challenge.
“It’s changed our game plan a lot when you lose your leading scorer, leading assist guy, your point guard,” SMU coach Andy Enfield said. “The last four games we haven’t had him, and we’ve struggled with turnovers. He was playing at a very, very high level before he was injured.”
SMU had five players score in double figures in its latest win, marking the 12th time this season it has accomplished that feat. Kario Oquendo, who has stepped into the starting lineup in Miller’s absence, contributed 10 points in the victory.
Stanford’s Home-Court Success
Stanford (18-10, 10-7 ACC) has been dominant at home, boasting a 15-2 record overall and an 8-1 mark in conference play. The Cardinal secured a 78-60 win over Boston College on Wednesday and will play their final home game of the season against SMU.
“If you’re having success, you’re going to feel good about it, and I think our players do,” Stanford coach Kyle Smith said. “It’ll be great—Senior Night—hopefully we can control our emotions. It’ll be lovely to finish out with another home win, but SMU is a very good team and we’ll have our hands full.”
Stanford’s success has been driven by 7-foot-1 center Maxime Raynaud, who leads the ACC with 21 double-doubles. He ranks second in the conference in scoring (20.0 ppg) and first in rebounding (11.1 rpg). Raynaud set Stanford’s single-season record for double-doubles on Wednesday with a 23-point, 10-rebound performance.
Guards Oziyah Sellers (14.0 ppg) and Jaylen Blakes (13.6 ppg) have also been key contributors for the Cardinal.
What’s at Stake
Stanford looks to cap off its home schedule with another victory, while SMU aims to stay in the ACC race despite missing its top playmaker. With both teams jockeying for conference positioning, expect a hard-fought battle in Palo Alto.
