NHL Playoffs Picks for Saturday, May 14th 2022

We couldn’t ask for a better Saturday hockey slate. There are three game seven match-ups starting with the Bruins vs. Hurricanes at 4:30 PM ET and ending with the Kings vs. Oilers at 10:00 PM ET.

However, the game that will attract the most viewers is the Lightning vs. Maple Leafs at 7:00 PM ET.

Let’s break down the slate and find some value in the betting markets.

Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Bruins vs. Hurricanes Preview

The home team has won every game in this series, but will the Hurricanes be able to win the series at home on Saturday? The Hurricanes are small favorites (-126).

Boston have been outplayed in this series, especially when in Raleigh. Carolina have outscored Boston 15-4 in Raleigh this series. They’ve jumped out to big early leads in those three victories.

If they can do the same on Saturday, the Bruins will be in trouble. However, you can’t discount the fact that the Bruins have a lot of playoff experience and they’ve won these types of series in the past.

I believe the bet with better value is on the over 6 goals (+112). The over is 7-0-1 in the last 8 H2H games and every game in the series has seen at least six goals scored.

Best Bet: Over 6 Goals (+112)

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Lightning vs. Maple Leafs Preview

These two teams have been alternating wins the entire series. The Maple Leafs shocked a lot of people when they won the series opener 5-0 and now they’re at home in game 7 with everything on the line.

The Leafs have been getting into a hole early in the game too often this series. They were able to win game 5 at home after going down 2-0 in the first period, but they couldn’t do the same in game 6.

Toronto come into game 7 as the favorites at home (-123), but the value is with the Lightning (+111).

During the Auston Matthews / Mitch Marner era, the Leafs are 0-8 in the playoffs when they have a chance to eliminate their opponent and that trend is going to continue on Saturday.

Best Bet: Tampa Bay Lightning ML (+111)

NHL Playoffs Picks

Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers

Kings vs. Oilers Preview

It looked like the Oilers had gained some momentum after going up 2-1 in the series, but they followed up two wins with two losses. They won game 6 on the road to force a game 7 in Edmonton.

At times in the series, the Oilers have completely dominated the Kings. The Oilers are big favorites (-205) to win the series on Saturday, but there’s no way I’m laying that type of money on this team.

The road team is 8-3 in the last 11 H2H meetings, but I don’t advise betting on the Kings either.

There has been a ton of scoring in this series, but I expect things to tighten up for game 7. Two of the last three games have had six or fewer goals and the total for game 7 is set at 6.5 goals.

Best Bet: Under 6.5 Goals (-118)
