Yankees vs White Sox Picks and Predictions — August 30, 2025
The New York Yankees look to extend their winning streak behind Carlos Rodon on Friday night as they visit the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. Rodon, a former White Sox ace, will face his old team on the South Side for the first time since 2021.

New York (77-59) has won five straight and 12 of its last 16, closing within a half-game of Boston for the top AL Wild Card spot. Yankees Can Win If…
Carlos Rodon continues his strong August and the lineup stays hot. Rodon is 3-0 this month and has won three straight starts, including holding Boston to two runs over 5 2/3 innings in his last outing.
“We’ve been swinging it well, and we’ve just got to keep on rolling,” Cody Bellinger said after homering in Thursday’s 10-4 win.
The Yankees’ bats have provided plenty of support, with Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Trent Grisham all going deep in the opener. If Anthony Volpe’s bat wakes up as it did Thursday (two hits), New York should handle business.
White Sox Can Win If…
Yoendrys Gomez continues to shine since joining the rotation. Recalled in mid-August, the right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA over 14 2/3 innings as a starter. His ability to mix pitches and avoid damage has been key for a struggling White Sox staff.
“He’s one of the guys out there who sets the tone for the group, in the clubhouse and on the field,” manager Will Venable said of Miguel Vargas, who could miss Friday after a wrist injury.
With Luis Robert Jr. and Colson Montgomery also sidelined, Chicago will need another spark from Vargas if he’s able to play. Otherwise, the lineup lacks the depth to keep pace with New York’s surging offense.
