Penn State vs. FIU Prediction: Nittany Lions Eye 33rd Straight Win vs. Unranked Foes

The Penn State Nittany Lions return to Beaver Stadium on Saturday, September 6, 2025, to host the FIU Panthers. Kickoff in University Park, PA, is set for 12:00 PM ET.

Penn State (1-0) looked sharp in its opener, rolling past Nevada 46-11 and scoring on its first nine possessions. FIU (1-0) also comes in with momentum, having rushed for six touchdowns in a 42-9 win over Bethune-Cookman in Willie Simmons’ debut as head coach.

The Nittany Lions Can Win If…

Drew Allar stays efficient and the offense maintains balance. Allar completed 22 of 26 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, spreading the ball to transfers Trebor Peña (7 catches, 74 yards) and Kyron Hudson (6 catches, 89 yards, TD).

Defensively, Dani Dennis-Sutton powered the unit with five tackles, two forced fumbles, and a pass breakup. If Penn State’s front controls the trenches, the Nittany Lions should cruise to another dominant non-conference win.

The Panthers Can Win If…

Quarterback Keyone Jenkins delivers a near-perfect outing. The junior dual-threat passed for 187 yards and rushed for two scores in Week 1. He enters the season as Conference USA’s preseason offensive player of the year, but Penn State’s defense is a major step up.

Running back Kejon Owens added two rushing TDs against Bethune-Cookman, and the defense held the Wildcats to 105 yards on the ground. For FIU to compete, it must continue to stop the run while avoiding turnovers against an elite Penn State pass rush.

Betting Outlook

Penn State is favored by more than five touchdowns, and my model projects a 49-10 Nittany Lions win. FIU has playmakers, but the gap in size, depth, and execution is enormous.

At a total of 57, the over is the lean. Penn State’s offense is too efficient not to push into the 40s, and FIU’s dual-threat quarterback can contribute just enough for the game to clear the number.
