The 2027 race
The race is on Sunday, June 20, 2027, at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, the week after Pocono on NASCAR’s schedule. The 2026 race ran on June 7, so the date moves back by about two weeks.
The FireKeepers Casino 400 in 2026 was 200 laps and 400 miles. NASCAR lists Michigan as a 2-mile intermediate track, with 18 degrees of banking in the turns, 12 on the frontstretch and 5 on the backstretch.
How the 2026 race was won
Hamlin won the pole and then started from the rear of the 37-car field, because his team made unapproved adjustments after qualifying. He spent the first stage between 20th and 30th and was in the top five by Lap 140. He led 40 laps, including the final 39 of 200, and won by 11.110 seconds over Erik Jones. NASCAR counted it as his 63rd Cup win and his fourth in this race.
It was a race of attrition. There were a record 11 cautions and a 20-minute red flag. A nine-car wreck early on ended the day for the points leader, Tyler Reddick, with his first DNF of the season. Chase Elliott led a race-high 67 laps and won the second stage, then crashed with Christopher Bell while racing for second with 51 laps left.
