2026 Winter Olympics Women’s Ice Hockey Predictions

Check out our predictions for the following Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey prop bets:

Group A Winner

  • USA (-130)
  • Canada (+110)
  • Czech Republic (+3300)
  • Finland (+5000)
  • Switzerland (+15000)

Only five teams have ever won a medal in Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey. Four of those teams are in this Group.

Finland has won the bronze medal on four occasions, with the latest taking place in 2022. They come into these Olympics with depth, grit, and strong performances on the international stage. They play a physical brand of hockey along with solid goaltending.

Czechia has never won an Olympic medal in this sport, but they do have a strong roster with rising stars and experienced veterans. They’ve shown well in recent international outings, which could give them hope for an underdog run in the Olympics.

Switzerland has a bronze to their credit, along with some strong European showings. They could pull off an upset or two against mid-tier teams. So, this country’s squad is better suited for individual game upsets rather than winning any medals or groups.

In the end, Group A (group of death) will come down to USA vs. Canada, just line in the men’s tournament. However, the difference between the two, is that the women’s USA team is the favorite and should win this group. Whereas, Canada’s men’s team is the favorite.

USA has the advantage in talent, depth, scoring and goaltending over Canada and every other team. We’ll break down the two country’s rosters further below.

Bet: USA (-130)

Group B Winner

  • Sweden (-250)
  • Germany (+400)
  • Japan (+500)
  • France (+8000)
  • Italy (+8000)

Sweden is the only team in this group that has won an Olympic medal in Women’s Ice Hockey. They took home the bronze in 2002. The Swedes are poised to win Group B due to their balanced lines, solid defense, and skilled forwards that can press for goals.

While Germany has a competitive squad, and the Japanese are building a rising challenger, this Group is all about Sweden and the likelihood that they win all of their group-stage games.

Bet: Sweden (-250)

To Win A Medal

  • USA (-10000)
  • Canada (-5000)
  • Czechia (+150)
  • Finland (+200)
  • Sweden (+300)
  • Switzerland (+550)
  • Germany (+900)
  • Japan (+1000)

USA and Canada are locks to win a medal. Their betting odds offer zero value. In the seven Winter Olympic Games that have featured women’s ice hockey, Canada has seven medals (5 gold, 2 silver) and the USA has seven medals (2 gold, 5 silver).

The only other countries to have won a medal in this sport is Finland (2 bronze), Sweden (1 bronze), and Switzerland (1 bronze).

So, it comes down to which country we think will win the bronze medal in the Milano-Cortina Games because as the gold and silver will be decided by the two North American teams per usual.

Finland offers better value than any of these mid-tier teams due to their current odds and the fact that they’ve won four medals in seven Olympic Games. They’ve won the bronze in three of the last four Olympics, including two in a row.

Finland took down Switzerland in the bronze medal game during the Beijing Olympics, won their 15th bronze medal all-time at the 2025 World Championships (third with 16 total medals), and they have the roster to pick up their third consecutive bronze medal in the Winter Olympics.

Bet: Finland (+200)

Gold Medal Winner

  • USA (-135)
  • Canada (+110)
  • Czechia (+2500)
  • Finland (+3300)
  • Sweden (+6600)
  • Switzerland (+10000)
  • Germany (+25000)

For the 8th time, the gold medal game will come down to USA vs. Canada. In 2022, the Canadian team defeated USA for the gold. The American team won gold in 2018 and 1998.

While Canada has a fantastic roster that features players like Marie-Philip Poulin and Sarah Nurse, the Americans seem to have more overall star power and depth this year.

USA is led by Hillary Knight and boasts of other top-tier talent like Megan Keller, Aerin Frankel and rising stars that appear on the cusp of breaking out.

USA’s veterans have just as much experience as Canada along with multiple lines that can swarm and overwhelm opponents. The one area that I feel USA has the edge is in the net with Frankel. I think she will clean up any rare mistakes by the Americans and help put USA back on top with a gold medal.

Let’s not forget, the Americans have won six in a row over Canada since the last Olympics. Additionally, they took home gold in the 2025 World Championships, which marked their 11th title in those games. USA was unbeaten and has built on top of that successful roster. Where the men’s American team has an uphill climb against Canada, the women’s American squad is the team to beat.

Bet: USA (-135)
