UFC Vegas 109 was always projected to be a day for the top betting favorites. That logic was spot on, as five of the six main card fights went to the person with the best odds.
Ideally, bettors were able to take advantage of that. Our UFC picks certainly did, as we were all over several of the winning fighters – namely Anthony Hernandez man-handling Roman Dolidze en route to an easy win.
This was not a card that was short on stoppages. Hernandez capped the night with a submission win, while we saw four other fights end early. So, who got the wins, who was finished, and which of our MMA picks delivered?
I’ll go over all of it as I break down the latest UFC results.
UFC Main Card Results
Winner | Loser | Method of Victory | Round |
---|---|---|---|
Anthony Hernandez | Roman Dolidze | Submission | Round 4 |
Steve Erceg | Ode’ Osbourne | Decision | Round 3 |
Iasmin Lucindo | Angela Hill | Decision | Round 3 |
Andre Fili | Christian Rodriguez | Decision | Round 3 |
Jean Matsumoto | Miles Johns | Decision | Round 3 |
Christian Leroy Duncan | Eryk Anders | Knockout | Round 1 |
Sometimes it’s better to just make the right pick than try to get cute. Value is only something worth obtaining if it can actually deliver, after all. Due to this, I opted to roll with five favorites on the main card, and that proved to be the right choice, as all of those picks delivered at UFC Vegas 109.
Hernandez capped the night in style with a dominant effort against Roman Dolidze, tapping into his superior wrestling and submission skills just like I expected him to. We also got Decision wins out of Steve Erceg and Jean Matsumoto, while I again broke down two other matches accurately.
I could see a Iasmin Lucindo win coming from a mile away, but more specifically, I knew the veteran Hill wasn’t going to succumb to a submission or KO. A Decision win was all Lucindo was ever going to get.
I was all over Fili as the lone main card upset, and he got it done in three rounds, scoring bettors a nice +205 bet. Lastly, I also loved Christian Leroy Duncan to get a KO, and he did just that, giving us the only knockout of the main card.
In all, my UFC picks went 6-0 for the main card. It doesn’t get any better than that, but I’d still like to remind you that I’m just one voice here. For the best results, be sure to tap into the best sports handicappers online.
UFC Preliminary Card Results
Winner | Loser | Method of Victory | Round |
---|---|---|---|
Julius Walker | Rafael Cerqueira | Decision | Round 3 |
Elijah Smith | Toshiomi Kazama | Knockout | Round 1 |
Joselyne Edwards | Priscila Cachoeira | Knockout | Round 1 |
Uros Medic | Gilbert Urbina | Knockout | Round 1 |
Gabriella Fernandes | Julija Stoliarenko | Decision | Round 3 |
Eric McConico | Cody Brundage | Decision | Round 3 |
The Prelims were even more explosive than the main card. This part of UFC Vegas 109 saw three fights end early, with Elijah Smith arguably stealing the spotlight with a KO slam of Toshiomi Kazama.
Joselyne Edwards was an easy pick to defeat Priscila Cagoeira, but she shocked me (and many others) by ending the fight in round one. Uros Medic was responsible for the other knockout of the slate, as he quickly dispatched Gilbert Urbina.
That was my only upset pick of this portion of the card, as I felt Medic and Urbina’s KO-happy ways would lead to some sweet chin music. I was half right, but was on the wrong end of it.
Overall, I tacked on four more wins, going 4-1 during the Prelims (10-1 overall) for a blistering night of MMA betting picks. The McConico vs. Brundage fight was a late addition to the card after I put it live on the site, so I didn’t have a pick for it.
UFC Results: Performance Of The Night Bonuses

Fight Of The Night
This spot is typically reserved for the best fight of the night, but officially, we didn’t get one. You could argue that some of the Decisions we saw were worthy of getting the nod, but the individual performances were too good to ignore.
Angela Hilli continued to display her elite chin and toughness in a Decision loss, while Rafael Carqueira did enough to keep Julius Walker from ending his night early. But were these fights (or any others) good enough to get the FOTN win in place of the solo bonuses? Not really.
Performance Of The Night
In lieu of a Fight of the Night winner, we got two extra Performance of the Night bonuses, and they all passed the eye test.
The easiest call of them all was Anthony Hernandez. He was a big favorite going into the main event, and he definitely delivered, thwarting off a few good early shots from Roman Dolidze to ultimately completely dominate – with a submission to boot.
He had the best overall performance, but nobody had a more impactful performance than Elijah Smith. He was kept busy early by Toshiomi Kazama’s takedown attempts, but he turned his last try into a powerbomb that Kazama will live to regret.
Joselyne Edwards also made quick work of Priscila Cachoeira in round one, while Christian Leroy Duncan dropped his opponent with a spinning elbow before pounding him into the mat.
