Despite not having the hype of UFC 324 and UFC 325, UFC Fight Night 266 (UFC Vegas 113) was a hit with fight fans and bettors alike. The show produced numerous finishes and, by all accounts, was a success for the Paramount era’s first Fight Night show at the UFC Apex center.
Dana White was more than thrilled with the show as he handed out $450,000 in bonuses which was more than the previous numbered events.
With that said, let’s take a look at the winners and losers from UFC Fight Night 266, recap the fighters who won bonuses, highlight how are UFC picks did, and discuss some of the betting trends for this event.
UFC Fight Night 266 Main Card Results
Our UFC Fight Night 266 main card predictions are in bold:
| UFC Winner | UFC Loser | Method of Victory | Round |
| Mario Bautista | Vinicius Oliveira | Submission (rear-naked choke) | 2 |
| Kyoji Horiguchi | Amir Albazi | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Rizvan Kuniev | Jailton Almeida | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Michal Oleksiejczuk | Marc-Andre Barriault | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Farid Basharat | Jean Matsumoto | Decision (split) | 3 |
| Dustin Jacoby | Julius Walker | TKO (strikes) | 2 |
The main event of UFC Fight Night 266 was a bantamweight clash between Mario Bautista and Vinicius Oliveira. In the end, Bautista delivered a masterful performance as he scored a second-round submission via rear-naked choke at 4:46 of the frame.
Bautista handled the pressure from his opponent with tactical soundness and eventually got the fight to the mat where his top control was on point due to his disciplined wrestling. From there, it was just a matter of time before Bautista’s grappling advantage found a submission hold.
In the flyweight co-main event, Kyoji Horiguchi outgunned Amir Albazi and won via unanimous decision. Horiguchi’s strategy was on full display as he dictated pace with range, low kicks, and crisp combinations that Albazi could not fully overcome. Horiguchi countered with precision and took advantage of openings from Albazi. All three judges gave Horiguchi the win, with two scorecards giving him all three rounds (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
In a heavyweight matchup between Rizvan Kuniev and Jailton Almeida, the underdog Kuniev was able to edge out Almeida with the judges (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). Kuniev changed up his attack throughout the fight with striking and grappling, which kept Almeida off balanced as he guessed more than figuring out Kuniev’s plan. The pace and technical striking allowed Kuniev to weather the early pressure before he took advantage of an outsmarted Almeida.
I must admit, this middleweight bout was more competitive than I thought it would be. In the end, Michal Oleksiejczuk scored a unanimous decision victory over Marc-Andre Barriault after three rounds that were close. Ultimately, the judges gave Oleksiejczuk the win with the score of 29-28 on all three cards due to his consistent pressure, octagon control, and striking accuracy. His clinch also limited Barriault from firing off shots to steal any latter moments in the fight.
The bantamweight battle between Farid Basharat and Jean Matsumoto ended with the closest finish as Basharat won via split decision. Matsumoto pushed forward, swung with a heavy hand and was the primary aggressor. However, Basharat was able to mix up his strikes with effectiveness and creativity, He also mixed up levels to keep Matsumoto guessing. In the end, Basharat did just enough to edge out Matsumoto despite the latter’s impressive performance.
In the UFC Vegas 113 main card opener, Dustin Jacoby defeated Julius Walker via second-round TKO at the 1:42 mark. As expected, Jacoby weather the early pressure and aggression from Walker to start landing well-time strikes. Eventually, he caught Walker with a massive shot that floored him and allowed Jacoby to land more strikes until the ref stopped it.
Main Card Betting Success
In regards to our UFC Fight Night 266 main card predictions, we went 5-1 SU with Rizvan Kuniev’s upset victory being our only loss on the card. That’s three straight main cards with only one loss. Coming into this event, we were 8-2 over the first two main cards of the UFC shows.
Of the six main card fights, we took only one Over and that came in the Basharat vs. Matsumoto bout. Those two bantamweights not only went the distance, but they went to a split decision due to how tightly contested the battle was.
For the main card, the Over went 4-2. The two bouts that came Under were: the main event fight (Bautista vs. Oliveria) which had a 4.5 round Total and the opener (Jacoby vs. Walker) which had a 2.5 round Total.
UFC Fight Night 266 Preliminary Card Results
Our UFC Fight Night 266 preliminary card predictions are in bold:
| UFC Winner | UFC Loser | Method of Victory | Round |
| Daniil Donchenko | Alex Morono | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Nikolay Veretennikov | Niko Price | KO (elbow & punches) | 1 |
| Ketlen Souza | Bruna Brasil | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Javid Basharat | Gianni Vazquez | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Wang Cong | Eduarda Moura | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
| Jakub Wiklacz | Muin Gafurov | Submission (guillotine choke) | 3 |
| Klaudia Sygula | Priscila Cachoeira | Decision (unanimous) | 3 |
The preliminary card’s featured bout was a welterweight clash between Daniil Donchenko and Alex Morono. Donchenko set the tone early with his superior striking. He landed kicks and punches at various angles as Donchenko avoided Morono’s predicted pressure. Although he didn’t get the stoppage, Donchenko still won in dominant fashion with the scores of 30-26, 30-26, 30-27.
If you have seen Niko Price fight before, then you knew that this bout had the potential for fireworks. And, that’s exactly what happened as Nikolay Veretennikov stopped Price with highlight-reel knockout at the 1:42 mark of Round 1. Veretennikov didn’t waste any time as he came out with aggression, pressure, and a determination to find the stoppage. Price was no match.
This women’s strawweight preliminary bout, saw Ketlen Souza methodically strike and grapple through three rounds to pick up the unanimous decision win with the scores of 29-28 on all three cards. Souza showed patience as she picked apart Bruna Brasil with jabs and leg kicks. Well-timed takedowns also kept Brasil from finding the right timing to land counters.
This bout was originally scheduled as Javid Basharat versus Said Nurmadomedov. Unfortunately, the latter was removed from the card due to Visa issues. Gianni Vazquez stepped in on two-days’ notice. Yet, the short notice meant that Vasquez missed weight. However, Basharat still agreed to the bout.
The battle started with solid striking exchanges from both men. The deciding factor in this decision outcome was Basharat’s technical striking and defensive prowess. He also displayed some crisp defensive skills that kept him out of serious trouble. In the end, Basharat won 29-28 on all three cards.
Wang Cong was able to sweep the scorecards and earn a unanimous decision win over Eduarda Moura with the scores of 30-27, 29-28, 29-28. The deciding factors were Wang’s range control, crisper offensive output, and landing the cleaner shots in the midst of Moura’s pressure. Ironically, both women missed weight for this bout.
The bantamweight clash between Jakub Wiklacz and Muin Gafurov was heading for a decision until lightning struck and Wiklacz found a guillotine chokehold and locked it in, forcing Gafurov to tap out with one second left in the fight. Gafurov pushed the pace by pressing forward with unrelenting aggression. And he had a shot on the scorecards if it went the distance. Wiklacz’s buzzer-beating submission win was one of the most talked about moments of the night.
The UFC Vegas 113 opener saw Klaudia Sygula defeat Priscila Cachoeira via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) in a women’s bantamweight clash. Sygula established control early in the fight with low kicks, boxing combos, along with great footwork and movement. Cachoeira flashed moments of cutting off the cage and showed off her fan-friendly aggression. Unfortunately, it also led to eating counter punches. Ultimately, Cachoeira didn’t do enough to overcome Sygula’s volume of strikes and counters.
Preliminary Card Betting Success
Last week, we went 5-3 on the UFC 325 preliminary card. This week, we crushed it with a 6-1 record. Our lone loss was Gafurov getting upset by Jakub Wiklacz. The favorites went 6-1 on the card as that fight was the lone upset for the preliminary portion of UFC Fight Night 266.

We took two Totals in the prelims, and went 2-0 with those picks. It was a slam dunk taking the 1.5 round Over for Donchenko-Morono and the 2.5 round Over for Wang-Moura.
