There was never going to be an easy way for Noche UFC to live up to the theatrics of UFC Paris. Even so, the third annual UFC Noche event was quite thrilling, with the main event ending with a KO win for Diego Lopes in the second round.

That was quite the encore alone, while the main card itself tried to follow suit with three fights ending early. It was ultimately no match for the insane amount of finishes fans had the luxury of seeing at UFC Paris, but it was still an excellent card.

Of course, the real question is how did your UFC picks end up doing? If you followed along with my breakdown from last week, you should have finished in the green. Either way, I’ll walk you through the latest UFC results from the Noche UFC event.

It was not on Diego Lopes going into Noche UFC 3. I definitely cited his experience and elite finishing ability, but Jean Silva felt like a different breed. Lopes had superior versatility and that showed in round one, but the viciousness and aggressiveness we saw out of Silva to begin round two is precisely what had me thinking he’d win.

That wasn’t to be, as Lopes ultimately dropped the same spinning elbow Silva was trying to connect on, and then pounded out his opponent to wrap things up. It was an emphatic ending to a solid night, albeit one that had my final Noche UFC pick resulting in failure.

Still, my Noche UFC 3 picks were otherwise on point for the main card. I was all over David Martinez taking out Rob Font, and even though he didn’t dominate with a KO like I predicted, a win is a win.

I also saw the Rafa Garcia upset coming, with that pick alone returning a solid +185 for willing bettors. It was a fantastic main card for yours truly, with five of my six plays hitting. The main event was the only one to fail if you rolled with my bets to close out this slate.

Hopefully you were on the right side of most of these fights. If not, be sure to lean on our best sports handicappers next time before finalizing your MMA wagers.

One fight not included in the UFC results for the Prelims is the tilt between Zachary Reese and Sedriques Dumas. That fight was ended early and ruled a no contest due to a low blow by Reese. That was unfortunate, seeing as I had Reese winning.

I was wary of Todorovic due to his vulnerability to knockouts, but I had also noted his propensity for finishing fights. He was a -300 betting favorite, so I felt comfortable backing him and he obliged with a round one submission of Jose Daniel Medina.

The rest of the Noche UFC Prelims weren’t super exciting, as the card got off to a slow start with just three wins by stoppage. Daniil Donchenko did score one of just two first round victories of the night, and the most shocking of them all was Alden Coria taking out Alessandro Costa early in round three.

Costa was a big favorite at -450 and I fully expected him to take care of business, but he took advantage of a lower body ailment and finished the job.

UFC Results: Performance Of The Night Bonuses

  • Fight of the Night: Diego Lopes vs. Jean Silva
  • Performance of the Night: Diego Lopes
  • Performance of the Night: Santiago Luna

Fight Of The Night

The UFC bucked a surging trend at Noche UFC, as we’d been getting pretty comfortable not seeing any matches win the coveted fight of the night honor. That changed this past weekend, as Diego Lopes was praised for his performance twice, with one of his two $50,000 bonuses coming in FOTN honors.

It was fairly arguable to say this was the most entertaining night of the event, as it definitely lived up to expectations, had a finish, and saw a talented underdog prevail with an exciting ending.

However, the fight didn’t even get to the third round, and there were a few other individual efforts that could have been given proper recognition. That said, if a fight had to win at UFC Noche, this is the right call.

Lopes was fairly dominant overall, as he took over early, withstood a second round surge by Silva, and then turned his own spinning elbow KO attempts around. I said going in that Lopes was highly versatile and capable of ending the fight any second, but I was still a little shocked at the ultimate result.

Performance Of The Night

As noted, Lopes was one of the two performances of the night bonus winners at Noche UFC. He was in control for much of the fight and capped the main event with a finish as the underdog, so you won’t hear any complaints from me.

The other big winner was Santiaga Luna, who definitely stood out since he wasn’t even winning his match originally. Luna was taken aback by Quang Le early on, putting his perfect record at risk. However, he was able to bounce back, as he used the fence to batter his opponent before finishing him off.

You could have made a reasonable case for Dusko Todorovic, too, while the big loser here was undeniably Alden Coria. In what was inarguably the biggest upset of the night – albeit one that was contributed to by injury – he got passed over.

That said, Luna is a surging (and still undefeated) prospect, so I get it.
