2025 World Surf League Championship Odds and Predictions

Last Updated on

With the NFL out of the picture for the next several months, sports bettors are moving on to niche markets they can exploit. One such option at sports betting sites is the WSL, which could provide some upside for bettors willing to assume some risk.

Naturally, the 2025 World Surf League odds are out there for all to see, so you can get your bets in now to maximize your value. Of course, it’s not difficult to place a bet on the WSF; it can be hard to know which surfer to back, however.

That’s where we come in, as we’ve looked at the early WSL odds and are ready to crown champions from both the men’s and women’s competitions. If you want more guidance when betting on niche markets such as this, don’t hesitate to take advantage of some of the best handicappers the web has to offer.

For now, let’s see who is favored to win the 2025 World Surf League Championships and how you should bet.

How Does the World Surf League Work?

If you want to watch high level surfing and the Olympics aren’t on, the World Surf League is for you. The league manages several important competitions, including qualifying series, longboard championships, the Big Wave Tour, and more.

The big one, of course, is the Championship Tour, which has the 36 best men and 18 best women facing off to see who is the top surfer.

Competitions typically consist of heats with 2-4 surfers facing off at the same time. Usually said surfers have up to 30 minutes to obtain the highest possible score and the leaders advance.

How To Watch the World Surf League?

You can watch the World Surf League on the league’s website at Worldsurfleague.com, while they are also available on Apple TV, Amazon, Roku.

Where you can watch the WSL does depend on your location, but competitions are shown on ESPN channels in the United States. Popular options outside of the US include Red Bull TV, Premier Sports United Kingdom, Rush Sports, and Globo.

Some countries will offer viewing via YouTube and TikTok as well.

Women’s World Surf League Odds

Check out the latest Women’s World Surf League odds to win the 2025 WSL Championship:

WSL OddsWSL Odds
Caitlin Simmers (+125)Erin Brooks (+300)
Caroline Marks (+450)Molly Picklum (+550)
Tyler Wright (+1200)Tatiana Weston-Webb (+1600)
Brisa Hennessy (+2500)Sawyer Lindblad (+3300)
Vahine Fierro (+4000)Johanne Defay (+4000)

The women’s WSL betting odds favor Caitlin Simmers to win. She has a pretty favorable price tag at +125, and it makes sense since she is the reigning champ.

Simmers does have Erin Brooks breathing down her neck, while Carolina Marks (2023 champion) also looks like a top contender. Molly Picklum is the only other woman with odds north of even +1000, so it’s arguable this race is down to just four women – if that.

The good news? You’re getting pretty good value across the board. The top contenders can all still be had at plus money, and you don’t have to go far to find some pretty viable sleeper bets.

Women’s World Surf League Predictions

Caitlin Simmers gets the party started at her +125 price. She is the logical favorite, as she won the title in 2024 and has nothing but upside in front of her at just 19 years of age.

The 2023 WSL Rookie of the Year and 2021 US Open of Surfing champ has no real negatives. The only issue is her competition is solid.

Erin Brooks is impossibly younger, but her star is on the rise after winning the Fiji Pro last year and also finishing runner-up at the 2023 ISA World Surfing Games. The 17-year old is the top contender in terms of price and her ceiling is impossible to ignore.

It’s tough to ignore Carolina Marks, too. Marks (23) won the WSL title in 2023 and claimed gold in Paris this past summer.

If you’re not betting on one of those top contenders, the most appealing value bet is hands down Tyler Wright. The 30-year old is technically past her prime – especially when you look at how young and athletic her competition is – but age is just a number in pro surfing.

Wright is a former World Surf League champion, having won in 2016 and 2017, and she got the new 2025 WSL season started off with a bang by claiming the Leux Pipe Pro. She nearly doubled the score of Caitlin Simmers, which could serve as another reminder that she isn’t done dominating just yet.

I think Simmers is the safe play here, but Wright has a long career filled with wins, and she knows what it takes to go the distance in this league. Given her +1200 odds, I don’t mind swinging for the fences in this betting market.

Bet: Tyler Wright (+1200)

Men’s World Surf League Odds

Check out the latest Men’s World Surf League odds to win the 2025 WSL Championship:

WSL OddsWSL Odds
Italo Ferreira (+250)Filipe Toledo (+400)
Jack Robinson (+450)Ethan Ewing (+500)
Griffin Colapinto (+800)Gabriel Medina (+1000)
Yago Dora (+1400)Joao Chianca (+2200)
Kanoa Igarashi (+2500)Barron Mamiya (+2500)

The men’s WSL competition is a bit more intense. The top favorite has worse odds than the women’s side does, and you have five surfers with odds at +1000 or better that you’ll need to consider.

Italo Ferreira starts the bidding with a +250 price tag, which makes him the clear favorite, but the competition suggests it may not be a slam dunk. He did win the whole thing back in 2019, but he hasn’t won since and he didn’t have a dominant performance at the Lexus Pipe Pro.

Much like the women’s market, this feels like a relatively wide open race when looking at the top contenders. I do think that there is one amazing value bet we could go after, too.

Men’s World Surf League Predictions

Italo Ferreira is the top favorite to win the men’s World Surf League title, but given the value with everyone else around him, I think I’ll pass.

He’s deserving as far as being a threat, as he did win this before, but he’s now 30 years of age. His 2025 win at the Surf Abu Dhabi Pro keeps him on the map for sure, but I’ll stray a bit and eye value elsewhere.

One great option is Filipe Toledo, who has much more recent success after winning the WSL championship back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. The 29-year old hasn’t done much since then, of course.

Bettors shouldn’t ignore Jack Robinson, either. Robinson put his elite ability on display when he won the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Games, while he also took down the 2024 Margaret River Pro. He narrowly got edged out at the Lexus Pipe Pro this year, so his form remains strong as well.

It’s always going to be tough to write off Gabriel Medina. The surfing legend may be 31 now, but he is a three-time winner of this league and won bronze at the Summer Games this past year.

Nobody is more interesting than Barron Mamiya, though. The 26-year old Hawaii native has claimed the Billabong Pipeline Masters in consecutive seasons, and that obviously includes a tight win to start off the 2025 campaign.

Mamiya has never parlayed individual competition success into a full WSL championship, but his surge over the past two years could catapult him to new heights.

The men’s competition is a bit more intense. I think you can absolutely take a shot at some value via Medina or Mamiya, but the most compelling option is Jack Robinson. The 27-year old was in really good form to start off 2025, he was fantastic at the Olympics, and he won two events last year. I like his production and value enough to take a shot at a meteoric rise in 2025.

Bet: Jack Robinson (+450)
