Betting on the US Open means betting on the last Grand Slam of the tennis year, played on acrylic hard courts in Queens, New York, with 128 players in each singles draw. The main markets are match winners, game handicaps, set betting, totals and the outright market on who lifts the trophy.

The last edition was won by Alexander Zverev, who beat Ben Shelton 6-3 7-6(7-2) 5-7 6-2 on September 13, 2026, and Elena Rybakina, who beat Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 5-7 6-2 the day before. The next edition is in 2027, and the tournament has not posted its dates yet.

When and where the US Open is played

The 2026 US Open ran from August 23 to September 13, the dates on the tournament’s own site, with the main-draw sessions from August 30. The tickets page now says “We look forward to seeing you next year at the 2027 US Open” and gives no 2027 dates, so this page will add them when the tournament does.

The event has been played since 1978 on acrylic hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Both 2026 singles finals were on Arthur Ashe Stadium, the main court. It is the fourth of the four majors, after the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon.

How the draw works

Each singles draw has 128 players, so the champion wins seven matches. In 2026, ESPN’s draw shows 64 first-round matches in both the men’s and women’s singles, and 16 qualifying finals in each, which is where the 16 qualifiers per draw come from. The men play best of five sets and the women best of three.

The doubles draws had 32 first-round matches, or 64 teams. The mixed doubles ran as its own event on August 25 and 26 with 16 teams, before the singles began, and Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik won it.

A deciding set that reaches 6-6 is settled by a tiebreak to 10, won by two. That rule has applied at all four majors since 2022, and it decided both of the matches below:

• Ben Shelton beat Carlos Alcaraz 6-7(5-7) 6-1 6-3 1-6 7-6(10-7) in the quarterfinals.
• Frances Tiafoe beat Alex Michelsen 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6(10-6), from two sets down.

The main betting markets

• Match winner: you pick the player to win the match, priced as a moneyline. It is the simplest bet and the one every book offers on every match.
• Game handicap: a line on total games won. A +3.5 bet wins if your player finishes no more than three games behind across the whole match, whoever wins it.
• Set betting: the exact score in sets, such as 3-1 or 2-0. In a best-of-five men’s match there are six possible results, so the prices are longer.
• Totals: over or under a number of games or sets in the match. Shelton and Alcaraz played 49 games in their five-set quarterfinal in 2026.
• Outrights: who wins the tournament. These open months ahead and move with every result.

What the 2026 results tell a bettor

The favorites did not all survive. Alcaraz, the 2025 champion and the second seed, went out in the quarterfinals to Shelton, the eighth seed, who then reached the final. In the women’s draw, the top two seeds did meet in the final: Rybakina, seeded second, beat Sabalenka, the first seed and the 2025 champion.

Hard-court form carried across the year. Rybakina also beat Sabalenka in the Australian Open final on January 31, 2026, the other hard-court major, and ESPN’s WTA ranking of September 17 has Rybakina first on 9,901 points and Sabalenka second on 7,875.

The same ranking update has Jannik Sinner first in the ATP on 11,500 points, Zverev second on 9,690 and Alcaraz third on 5,560. Shelton is fourth on 4,680.

How to use the numbers

A ranking tells you who has won most over the last year, on every surface. For a hard-court major, look at results on hard courts, and at best-of-five form for the men: Tiafoe’s quarterfinal went five sets and ended in a 10-point tiebreak. Tiafoe won it, and Shelton then beat him in the semifinal 4-6 6-3 6-3 7-5.

Serve numbers are the other half. First-serve percentage, aces and double faults for the two players in front of you say more about a game handicap or a total than a career average does, and Zverev won his 2026 semifinal against Karen Khachanov 6-3 7-6(9-7) 7-6(8-6), two of the three sets going to tiebreaks.

ESPN’s futures feed had no ATP or WTA markets for the 2027 season when this page was updated, so any outright price you see will be from a book’s own board.
