Darlington – AKA “The Lady in Black and The Track Too Tough To Tame” – shook up the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Several drivers such as Kyle Busch and defending Richmond winner Alex Bowman dropped below the cutoff line. That came due to several wrecks. The question is if any of the drivers that had a hard time last week can make up some ground at Richmond for the Federated Auto Parts 400.
The answer is… yes! That’s from taking a look at the odds from Intertops. Busch, who crashed out early last week and dropped from 4th in the Playoffs to 14th, comes in as one of the favorites heading into the Richmond race.
Bowman took a plunge down the standings settling in at the 13th position. This weekend, oddsmakers see him performing well in the Federated Auto Parts 400. Bowman comes in at +1400 and he’s the defending track winner.
Joey Logano is the lone Ford driver cracking the top of the Favorites list. Logano comes in at +800. His last win at Richmond came in 2017. Here are the favorite drivers, through +800, to win the outright according to Intertops.
Denny Hamlin +400
Kyle Larson +450
Martin Truex Jr +450
Kyle Busch +750
Joey Logano +800

2021 Federated Auto Parts 400 Predictions
Martin Truex Jr +450
Martin Truex is the stats leader when it comes to Richmond. Over his last ten races at the track, he’s scored two wins and 8 runs inside the top-ten. Truex did not suffer any issues last week at Darlington so he’s still riding high in the playoff standings in the third spot. His last five trips to the track have resulted in 3rd, 1st, 1st, 2nd, and a 5th place run respectively.
Kyle Busch +750
Kyle Busch needs a great run this week to work his way out of the hole he plummeted into after the Darlington race where he wrecked out early. Busch has six wins at Richmond in the Cup Series and six in the Xfinity Series. In his last ten visits, he’s finished in the top ten nine times with two wins. His average start at Richmond (last ten races) is 9.9 with an average finish of 6.2.
Brad Keselowski +1000
Brad Keselowski won the 2020 Richmond race and led 25 laps of the April race before being shuffled back at the end. He’s finished 9th or better in five of his last six Richmond races. He only has one DNF at the track and that came in his first race there in 2009. Keselowski is mid-pack in the Playoff standings after week one. He finished 8th last week at Darlington.
Others: Don’t be surprised if Joey Logano (+800) shows up strong on Saturday night. Logano is one of the better NASCAR fantasy drivers at Richmond with six top-five runs in his last ten Richmond races. Alex Bowman (+1600) had a horrible race last week at Darlington and needs a win to get locked into Round 2. He’s the defending track winner after his victory here in April.
