With the NHL season here, now is the time to place your futures bets for the season. One of the best futures betting markets is betting on regular season team point totals.

Other NHL teams will begin the regular season next week starting with a doubleheader on October 11th.

Here are the best NHL regular season team point total futures predictions:

New York Rangers Over 99.5 Points (-130)

The New York Rangers finished last regular season with 110 points, good for second in the Metropolitan.

They had some playoff success as well. They eliminated the Penguins and Hurricanes before losing in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Lightning. They have high expectations this season.

Igor Shesterkin led the NHL last season in goals against average (2.07) and save percentage (.935). He may not maintain those numbers, but he’s one of the best goalies in the NHL.

The Rangers also have some young talent that could breakout this season. Players like Kaapo Kakko, Alexis Lafreniere and Filip Chytil all have the potential to become top producers in the league.

Adding Vincent Trocheck as the #2 center was a good move this offseason. Some expect the Rangers to regress this season, which they might, but they’ll exceed 100 regular season points.

NHL Odds

Ottawa Senators Under 86.5 Points (+100)

hqdefault

The Ottawa Senators ended last season with 73 regular season points, finishing seventh in the Atlantic. They missed the NHL playoffs again and that trend is unlikely to change for the upcoming season.

Ottawa added some nice pieces on offense with the additions of Claude Giroux and Alex DeBrincat, but they still lack the depth to compete with the better teams in the league.

One area where the Sens needed to improve was on defense, but that didn’t happen. The defense is going to be weak again this season and they’re going to give up plenty of goals.

They allowed 3.22 goals against per game (22nd) last season and it’s hard to see that number improving.

The Senators added Cam Talbot in the crease to pair with Anton Forsberg, but that duo doesn’t inspire too much confidence. Ottawa is an improved team, but they’ll still struggle to win in the Atlantic.

The Atlantic is a tough division and the Sens will finish with less than 80 regular season points.

NHL Picks

St. Louis Blues Over 95.5 Points (-115)

The St. Louis Blues often get overlooked, but they have been a consistently good team for years now. Last season, the Blues finished third in the Central division with 109 regular season points.

They lost some talent this offseason, including David Perron and Ville Husso. Some players that remain will likely struggle to match their production from last season, but this is still a top team due to depth.

This team has a lot of depth and veteran leadership to get them back into the playoffs.

The Central shouldn’t be too tough of a division this season. Minnesota should regress, leaving the door open for the Blues to take second place in the division behind the Avalanche.
