Not even two weeks have passed since the English Premier League went into its summer hiatus, and the 2023 betting odds have already been released.
Familiar faces top the offseason favorites, while there has been movement in the mid-table battles; given the success of recently-promoted club Brentford, it is also possible that another top-flight newcomer makes some noise next season.
Here is how the odds shape up.
Top Contenders to Win the Title
Manchester City (-160)
Man City has won four of the last five Premier League titles, and in the one year that they did not win, they were a narrow second place.
Manager Pep Guardiola has cultivated one of the most overwhelmingly dominant squads with interchangeable pieces that allow them to participate in multiple competitions without risking lower performances in the league.
They could soon lose Raheem Sterling, but the arrival of 21-year-old Norwegian wunderkind Erling Haaland, already one of the most ruthless goal-scorers in Europe and the Champions League, will almost certainly fill the void.
Liverpool (+185)
The winner who broke City’s streak and last year’s domestic and Champions League final runner-up is Liverpool.
The Reds play a relentlessly aggressive style with attackers bombing forward, although they are set to lose Sadio Mane and are struggling to agree to contract terms with Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool’s squad is aging fast, and even with the arrival of young Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate, they need to keep searching for more youthful alternatives before it becomes too late.
Next in Line

Chelsea and Tottenham (+1800)
Both London clubs have +1800 odds of winning the title as the clear second-tier of favorites that are also a fair margin above the rest of the pack.
Chelsea last won the league in 2017 but won the Champions League in 2021 and this year’s Club World Cup, showing they have the pedigree to win different competitions.
They had a hang-up with sanctions placed against them, but a new ownership group seems keen on bolstering a fraying squad in this summer’s transfer market.
Tottenham turned its season around drastically when manager Antonio Conte, a serial winner, arrived in the midseason. Conte is also receiving the financial backing of the team’s owner, and he figures to turn out an elite product.
Tottenham historically has trouble winning hardware and has never won the league, but they have the most potent one-two punch in the league with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
Relegation Battle
Nottingham Forest (-140)
Nottingham Forest became the third and final team to secure promotion with a playoff victory over Huddersfield.
They have Premier League talent on their side but are extremely inexperienced and have a poor precedent of third-to-be-promoted teams they have to overcome.
Bournemouth (-140)
Bournemouth is no stranger to bouncing back and forth between the Premier League and Championship; their attacking corps is also not the best, and they will likely struggle to break down top sides.
Fulham (+105)
Fulham, another of the promoted sides, is also projected to struggle as they too have had issues scoring in the top flight despite having a dominant, free-flowing attack in the Championship.
The team goes as Aleksandar Mitrovic does, so if he can make his mark in front of goal, they have a great chance of staying up— any less, and they will surely head back down.
