Win: Forte

The Kentucky-bred two-year old has a victory in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga backing him up on Sept. 9. The lofty 7.03 rating by Horse Racing Nation is top the list in this field. Forte is eying up a run in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in early November.

Sired by Violence and trained by Todd Pletcher, he has never crossed a mile in his previous three starts. However, Forte is bred to more up quickly. He is the favorite to win at the Breeders’ Futurity in Keeneland and one of the top favorites to win at the BC Juvenile.

Place: Carmel Road

Also a two-year old bred in Kentucky, Carmel Road has taken the West Coast road to Del Mar and Santa Anita in races at those tracks. Trained by Bob Baffert, he has won a 1-mile Maiden Special Weight race out in Del Mar Racetrack on Aug. 26 over Riverside and Hard To Figure.

As the son of Quality Road, he shows the speed and power to step up to major grade stakes status. Baffert could run him in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita on the same date.

Show: Lost Ark

Also trained by Pletcher, Lost Ark won the non-graded Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park the end of August. Covering a mile on dirt, he had a time of 1:37.20 to breeze past Bourbon Spirit and Major Dude.

With Violence as his father, Lost Ark also has been bred to go farther distances. Pletcher has circled the BC Juvenile in early November for his next race.
