What a surprising two weeks in the world of the NASCAR Cup Series! Kevin Harvick won the last two races after a nearly two-year long dry spell. Can he win three in a row by grabbing the checkered flag at Watkins Glen and the running of the Go Bowling at the Glen? Possibly – he’s won at this track in the past. But he’ll have to get past co-favorites Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick.
Elliott went back-to-back in 2018 and 2019 and comes in at +550 along with Reddick who has never won on this track but scored a 10th place run last season. That was his first ever time at the Glen in a Cup Series car but he has won twice this season on road courses.
Last season Kyle Larson (+850) won the race after leading the field for 24 of 90 laps. That win gave Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports three wins in a row at Watkins Glen. Before that run, Toyota had won two in a row with the last Ford victory coming back in 2015.
Those numbers help explain the way oddsmakers are viewing this race aside from race stats gleaned from this season. Chevrolet and Toyota drivers have won five of the last six races at Watkins Glen. Here are the favorite drivers, through +700, to win the 2022 Go Bowling at the Glen outright.
Chase Elliott +550
Tyler Reddick +550
Kyle Larson +850
Austin Cindric +900
Ross Chastain +1000
All of the drivers listed above have Cup Series road course wins under their belt except for Austin Cindric. However, Cindric won at the Glen in 2019 in an Xfinity Series race.

2022 Go Bowling at The Glen Predictions
Chase Elliott +550
There’s a reason Chase Elliott is the favorite. He’s the best active road course racer in NASCAR with a total of seven wins. The bonus is that he’s won two of the last three Cup Series races at Watkins Glen. And he drives for Hendrick Motorsports and they’ve won the most Watkins Glen Cup Series races with a total of eight. Elliott also is in a Chevrolet and “Bow Tie” drivers have won 19 of 32 Cup races on the course. The one issue is that Elliott has not won on a road course this season after winning at least one road race in each of the last four seasons.
Ross Chastain +1000
Ross Chastain has continued his breakout season with a road course win at COTA earlier this year. He posted a 7th place finish at Sonoma this season and a 4th place run at Road America only a month and a half ago. His outing at Indianapolis on the facilities road course was not as he probably hoped. During that race, he finished a disappointing 21st. Still, a win and two additional top-ten runs on a road course this season is something to consider.
AJ Allmendinger +1600
AJ Allmendinger has a reputation for being a road course junkie! He’s posted two Cup Series wins on this type of track with his latest being last season at Indianapolis. This time around he finished 7th at Indy with a handful of laps as the leader. His biggest road course stat this season comes from the Xfinity Series where he has won three road races this season.
Others: Martin Truex Jr (+2000) won at Watkins Glen when he was with Furniture Row Racing. He’s the favorite when looking at NASCAR fantasy stats and his last four starts at Watkins Glen have yielded a win as well as 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Who would have thought that both Kyle Busch and Harvick would be deep down the list at +2500 along with Denny Hamlin? You could probably take a chance on any of the three but I’m leaning on Harvick and his hot streak.
