2022 Hero World Challenge Odds and Picks

The Hero World Challenge is next up and the big news is that Tiger Woods has withdrawn from his event due to a foot injury. Still, the limited field is packed with power as the event redies to tee off at the Albany Golf Course in New Providence, Bahamas. The tournament is a benefit for Tiger Wood’s foundation and there is a good chance you may see him on camera around the course.

Woods is still recovering from the injuries he sustained during a car wreck, but it is unclear if this issue is related. Tiger has won this event five times with Graeme McDowell being the only other Hero multi-winner. It’s tough to repeat as a winner at this event because the field is limited to only 16 to 20 players.

PGA Bookies

Those players are selected from the most recent winners of the four Majors and then available golfers from the Official World Golf Rankings. Spots are also held open for the defending Hero World Challenge winner and two exemption picks via Tiger.

This year’s field is packed with “big-name” players starting with two who are leading the odds list. Jon Rahm comes in at +500 while Scottie Scheffler comes in at +800.

Here are the favorites to win the 2022 Hero World Challenge outright:

Jon Rahm +500

Scottie Scheffler +800

Tony Finau +900

Xander Schauffele +1000

Justin Thomas +1000

Golf in the Bahamas often includes wind, moisture, temperature changes and stunning views. Look for golfers to try and attack the par-five holes with a vengeance as those are the best stroke-saving holes on the course.

Driving low will be a plus if the wind is an issue, almost as if one were playing the windy courses in the UK. If the wind is down – players will be able to carve up the course while taking advantage of safe, and good-sized, Bermuda greens. The rough will be low to moderate giving players plenty of chances to wow fans and TV cameras by scrambling around the green.

Fairways and landing areas are picture-perfect islands of green with white bunkers protecting several of the greens. This course will not overly challenge the top-ranked players in the world. But it is a course that will allow them the opportunity to show off their skills while raising money for charity!

2022 Hero World Challenge Predictions

Tony Finau +900

Tony Finau has had an amazing run over the last few months. He has won three tournaments in his last seven outings. He has played this event for the last four times it was held – add in the COVID break – and finished 2nd in 2018. Finau can carve up greens with his putter when he is in the groove. The greens at Albany Golf Course are well suited for his short game.

Viktor Hovland +1400

Viktor Hovland is the defending champion of the Hero World Challenge. He beat out Scottie Scheffler by one stroke last year going 270 overall and 18-under for the win. Hovland started off the new season by going T5 at the ZOZO Championship, T21 at the CJ Cup and T10 at Mayakoba. Hovland has moved to the No. 39 spot on the OWGR list.

Tom Kim +1800

Tom Kim has quickly become one of the hottest golfers on the PGA TOUR as well as a fan favorite. He has moved to 4th in FedEx points and is now 15th on the OWGR list. Kim was an energetic force at the Presidents Cup and won the Shriners and T11 at the CJ Cup where he carded three rounds 69 or under.

Others: Tommy Fleetwood (+1800) had a T4 at Congaree, won the Nedbank and placed T5 at the DP World Tour Championship. Matt Fitzpatrick (+1200) won the 2022 Open Championship and has been playing great golf.
