The Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes and the Grade 2 Hill Prince Stakes are set for this Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack. Saturday’s whole race card at Aqueduct features live horse racing events from New York City in Queens.
The $150,000 Noble Damsel is open to fillies and mares three years and older covering a mile on turf. Domain Expertise is the favorite with Por Que No and Plum Ali has contenders in the probable field. Eight horses are lining up to register as entries in the Noble Damsel.
2022 Hill Prince Stakes Predictions
When: Saturday, October 22nd 2022
Where: Aqueduct Racetrack
The Hill Prince Stakes is open to three-year old Thoroughbreds and this event has a prize purse of $300,000. Set as 1 1/8 miles on turf, the probable lineup is seven horses highlighted by Mackinnon, St Anthony and Grand Sonata as the top three ratings by Horse Racing Nation. Any three of these colts would be my choice to finish in the money.
Win: Grand Sonata
The Kentucky-bred colt finished second at the Grade 3 Dueling Grounds Derby in Kentucky Downs on Sept. 5. Kitodan won that race and Mount Rundle was third. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Grand Sonata has five of seven races in the money this year.
The son of Medaglia d’Oro is bred for speed and distances on turf coming in to this season. Grand Sonata also races at New York horse racing tracks such as Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course. He ranked 4.55 at HRN, which is the third-highest ranking in the field.
Place: Mackinnon

Mackinnon has the highest HRN ranking in the field at 5.70. Trained by Doug O’Neill, the three- year colt finish sixth in the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby on Sept. 3 out in Southern California. He raced in the dirt on Jan. 1 this year in the Grade 3 Sham Stakes. Mackinnon finished fourth in his three-year old debut.
Sired by American Pharoah, he is bred to handle a 1 1/8 miles distance on turf. Mackinnon heads east to New York City while only racing at West Coast race tracks. No matter where he races, he has the right training and pedigree in battled for the lead in the Hill Prince Stakes.
Show: St. Anthony
Trainer Neil Drysdale’s three-year gelding has a 4.79 HRN rating in this field. He finished eighth in the Del Mar Derby and fourth in the Gun Runner Stakes at Kentucky Downs in September. However, the win at the Alcatraz Stakes in late May at Golden Gate has to count in the rankings.
St Anthony is the offspring of Noble Mission and Amnesia. He is bred to go more than a mile on turf because of his pedigree. The gelding is also heading east after racing that West Coast tracks and St Anthony is the logical choice to finish third in my book over the competition in the rest of the field.
