The NCAA Tournament is down to just 16 teams, and there will be eight games set to take place in the Sweet 16. It was another crazy and unpredictable first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, and the same could be true for the upcoming games.
With eight games set to take place, there will also be some solid betting opportunities. Here are the five best games to bet on from the eight Sweet 16 games set to take place.
Michigan Wolverines vs. Villanova Wildcats
Best Bet: Villanova -5
The Michigan Wolverines are in the Sweet 16 as a number 11 seed, and they now face the Villanova Wildcats in the South Region. Michigan is just 19-14 on the year, while Villanova is an impressive 28-7.
The Wildcats are a terrific defensive team, and they are also extremely efficient on offense. Michigan has Hunter Dickinson inside to lead the way, but the Wolverines don’t always shoot the ball well.
Michigan can keep this game close until late, but Villanova pulls ahead late and covers the spread.
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Duke Blue Devils
Best Bet: Duke -1
Duke and Texas Tech meet up in the West Region, and this could arguably be the best game of the second weekend. Duke has a huge advantage on offense and athleticism, but Texas Tech is able to shut any team down.
The Red Raiders do struggle to score at times, and that could create some problems in this matchup. Texas Tech can win this game if it’s in the 60s, but that’s not easy to do against Duke.
The dream season for Duke and Coach K continues on as they pull off a close game and pick up the victory.
Houston Cougars vs. Arizona Wildcats
Best Bet: Arizona -2
Most of the spreads in the Sweet 16 were pretty easy to predict, but this one just feels way off. Arizona is just a two-point betting favorite against Houston, and this should be the game that you are jumping all over.
Houston is an elite defensive team, but even the best defenses in the country have not been able to slow down Arizona. The Wildcats are just an explosive offensive team, and they are eventually going to find holes in that Houston defense.
Houston will play hard, but they just won’t be able to keep up. Take the Arizona Wildcats -2.0 as they roll to the Elite Eight.
Saint Peter’s Peacocks vs. Purdue Boilermakers
Saint Peter’s vs. Purdue Picks
Best Bet: Saint Peter’s +12.5
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks are in the Sweet 16 as a number 15 seed, pulling off a pair of stunning upsets along the way. St. Peter’s is now a massive underdog in the Sweet 16 as they are getting 12.5-points against Purdue.
The Boilermakers have been viewed as a national championship contender since before the season began, and they have looked the part during this run. Purdue is just loaded with offensive weapons, and they will have a massive size advantage in this one.
Purdue is going to win this game, but 12.5 points is too much, and St. Peter’s is the right play in this game.
North Carolina Tar Heels vs. UCLA Bruins
Best Bet: UCLA -2
The UCLA Bruins and North Carolina Tar Heels meet up in the East Region, and this should be one of the best games of the night. Both teams underachieved a bit during the regular season, but they are both playing well in this tournament.
North Carolina has the size advantage in this game, but UCLA has been this way before. The Bruins are giving up just 54.5 points per game during this run, and that defense is going to matter in this matchup.
This game should come down to the wire, but North Carolina just won’t have enough offense. Take the Bruins -2.0 over the Tar Heels in the East Region.
