As part of the NBA’s All-Star weekend, the 2022 Slam Dunk contest will take place on Saturday, February 19. There are four participants this year and, while none of huge names, the contest should be exciting. There will be a first-time champion this year as the field of four features three participants making their Dunk Contest debuts and one previous competitor that has yet to win.
Here’s a look at the 2022 NBA Dunk Contest odds and picks.
Green the Favorite
Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green is the overall favorite to win this year’s contest. Green is listed at +150.
The 6-4 guard was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft after playing in the NBA G-League in the 2020-21 season. He was the No. 1-ranked high school recruit in the Class of 2020 but elected to go to the G-League instead of college.
Green is no stranger to dunk contests. He won an epic dunk battle in 2019 in Manila, Philippines. Green has had several highlight reel dunks this season and has been spotted in pregame warmups dunking two balls at once like it’s normal.
He has made 32 of 38 dunk attempts this season.
Toppin Topper

Knicks forward Obi Toppin would like to one-up his performance from a year ago. Last year, Toppin was the runner-up to Anfernee Simmons in the Dunk Contest.
Of the four players in the contest, Toppin has the most dunks – 71 – this season. He ranks 21st in the NBA in dunks despite only playing 15.1 minutes per game.
Toppin is also the tallest player in the contest at 6-foot-9-inches. That can be an advantage because taller players can do some unique dunks. It can also be a detriment as fans like to see smaller players and their explosiveness.
Topping is given +175 odds to win this year.
The Rest of the Field
Cole Anthony, son of former NBA player Greg Anthony, has the fewest dunks of any player in this year’s contest. However, at a listed height of 6-3 (he’s closer to 6-2) Anthony is extremely explosive and has experience in dunk contests.
Anthony’s ability to get off the floor is why he was invited to participate. He is given +375 odds to win. Smaller players such as Anthony have had great success in the past.
The fourth competitor is Golden State’s Juan Toscano-Anderson. He is the least known of the four, but he has as many dunks this season (26) as Green and has done it in half the floor time.
Toscano-Anderson is 6-6 and had a dunk over Phoenix center JaVale McGee that went viral. The Warriors swingman is listed at +450 to win.
2022 NBA Dunk Contest Prediction
Green has enough explosiveness to win this thing. He’ll definitely outperform Anthony and Toscano- Anderson. The wild card is Toppin.
Despite being 6-9, Toppin is an absolute beast of a dunker. It’s almost as if a 6-4 guy was trapped inside of him. With his athletic ability and size, he’ll be able to pull off some ridiculous dunks and take home this year’s title.
