Best Racebooks

The $150,000 Seaway Stakes, $500,000 Natalma Stakes, $500,000 Pattison Summer Stakes and the Ricoh Woodbine Mile are highlighted as graded races.

The Seaway Stakes is the seven-furlong sprint featuring fillies and mare three and older. The Grade 3 event has a few legitimate contenders to lead to way.

The Natalma Stakes and the Pattison Summer Stakes offers up $500,000 dollars to the best two-year old contenders. The Natalma is open to juvenile fillies and the Pattison Summer Stakes is open up to two-year colts.

Trained by Paulo Lobo, the six-year horse was bred in Brazil. Ivar also has the Breeders’ Cup Mile penciled-in the first Saturday in November. He is top of his class in the Woodbine Mile with a 7.80 rating by Horse Racing Nation.

The son of Agnes Gold finished three in the Breeders’ Cup Mile last year at Del Mar. The only race this year he won. The Jonathan B. Schuster Memorial was run on July 9 at Indiana Downs. Ivar beat Cavalry Charge (2nd) and Somelikeithotbrown (3rd).

Place: Mighty Heart

The five-year horse was bred in Canada and he has home-track advantage with Woodbine Racetrack. Trained by Josie Carroll, Mighty Heart raced at Woodbine in three events this year, taking third in the Grade 3 Eclipse Stake on May 29 and the Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes on July 1.

Sired by Dramedy, Mighty Heart placed first, second or third in many for the races he has started from this track. Churchill Downs, Mountaineer and Gulfstream Park are some race courses that he finished in the money.

Mark Casse is lines-up as the trainer for the seven-year gelding. Florida-bred, March to the Arch has spent a longtime at Woodbine over the last two years. Second place at the Grade 2 Connaught Cup this past July is one of sprints that this track.

March to the Arch finished fourth in the Woodbine Mile last year and finished second the year before. The son of Arch has excelled at covered a mile on turf at Woodbine.
