The PGA TOUR fall swing is officially underway with the tournament, often referred to simply as “the Shriners” as it tees up again in Las Vegas. The Shriners Children’s Open tees up on Thursday at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Patrick Cantlay enters as the lone favorite at +650.
The field of players is strong following the exciting Sanderson Farms Championship last week. It includes defending Shriners Champion Sungjae Im who comes in at +1200 and Tom Kim at +2200. Both players showed their strong games off at the Presidents Cup.
The field has additional depth this week compared to the Sanderson Farms Open last week as more players are returning from time off during the start of the season and the Presidents Cup.
Here are the favorites to win the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open:
Patrick Cantlay +650
Sungjae Im +1200
Max Homa +1400
Tom Kim +2200
Aaron Wise +2500

Get ready for some scenic golf shots this week on Golf Channel coverage. TPC Summerlin features plenty of green for a dry climate course and yet takes full advantage of the location. Lush green fairways and first cut rough cut perfectly through the terrain. The venue plays Par 71 at 7,255 yards for PGA play and is often referred to as a second-shot course. Food for thought, three of the last five Shriners have finished with a playoff.
2022 Shriners Children’s Open Predictions
Patrick Cantlay +650
Patrick Cantlay is a past winner at this tournament. He beat Alex Cejka and Kim Meen-whee in a playoff for the title in 2017. Then he finished 2nd in 2018 behind Bryson DeChambeau and fell in a playoff against Kevin Na in 2019. Cantlay knows his way around this course! He finished out the season with two wins, a Ryder Cup win, and 14 finishes of 25th or better.
Tom Kim +2200
Tom Kim excited crowds at the Presidents Cup and has quickly become a fan favorite on the PGA Tour. This is his first visit to the tournament so that might be a consideration, but a few practice rounds should familiarize him with the course. He grabbed the win at the Wyndham Championship, was 3rd at the GENISIS Scottish Open, and was explosive two weeks ago at Quail Hollow.
Tom Hoge +4000
Tom Hoge has made the cut five of six times at the Shriners so it’s a course he’s familiar with. Hoge was a bit inconsistent during last season as he logged 13 cuts out of 32 events played. However, he did have a win at Pebble Beach, a 2nd place at the American Express, a T9 at the PGA Championship, and 6 top-ten finishes. He opened up his 2022-23 season with a T12 at the Fortinet.
Others: Sungjae Im (+1200) is playing strong but he expelled a bunch of energy at the Presidents Cup. It will be interesting to see how he comes out of the gate on Thursday. Matthew Nesmith (+6600) carded a T9 at the Sanderson Farms last week and he has a scoring average of 67 at TPC Summerlin having never finished outside of T19 in his three visits to the Shriners.
