Last Year John Rahm was one of the many favorites knotted together but this season he’s the stand-alone favorite of the 64-player field. Rahm comes in at +1200 with Justin Thomas and Viktor Hovland who are both at +1400.

That means that there are not too many sleepers playing! Any player in this field has the skills to win this week. Remember, this is a limited field this week of top players that are not taking a week or two off before the rapidly approaching Masters. Here are the top-five favorites through +1600. The Austin Country Club course was designed by Pete Dye and plays along the Colorado River. Water comes into play on a few holes, especially those along the river and lake bank. The layout is very playable for the PGA’s best players. Look for textbook play from most. Some may have trouble with bunkers and a few tight fairways.

2022 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play Predictions

Justin Thomas +1400

Justin Thomas comes in as one of the stronger players in the field as he’s been playing solid rounds as of late. He’s finished in the top-five outings including his T3 at the Valspar Championship. Thomas has been a machine when it comes to par-four scoring as he leads the PGA there. He has also avoided carding too many bogies this season which is perfect for this type of format.

Dustin Johnson +2000

Dustin Johnson is one of the top players and holds the No. 8 seed so he’s considered a probable lock for making it through. That’s if Kevin NA does not become a bracket buster. Johnson’s level of play at the moment is hard to look past as well as his win at this event in 2017 as well as winning the COVID delayed Masters a few seasons ago.

Daniel Berger +2800

Daniel Berger was recovering from a rib injury last year at this time and he has recovered judging from his level of play this season. Berger has only missed one cut this season and every other time out he has finished in the top-20. And that’s misleading! He had one T20 while also carding a Ryder Cup win, a 4th place finish, a T5, a T7, and a T13 finish so far this year.

Others I Like: Luke List (+12500) is far down the list but his short game has to be taken into consideration. If there was ever a dark horse for an event like this it has to be Luke List. Also, Bryson DeChambeau (+3300} is returning after some injury issues. This is definitely a warmup event for him prior to the Masters. It will be interesting to see how he holds up.
