Following a month of thrilling action, the 2022 World Cup Final is almost upon us. On Sunday, December 18th, Argentina and France will battle it out for the trophy at Lusail Stadium.
Argentina lost the 2014 World Cup final to Germany before France beat Croatia to secure the silverware in 2018. Can the South Americans go one better this year? Or will the reigning champions defend their crown?

2022 World Cup Final Preview
2022 World Cup Final Odds: Argentina (+180) / Draw (+200) / France (+170)
Total Goals Odds: Over 2.5 (+140) / Under 2.5 (-182)
As you can see, the bookmakers expect Argentina and France to play out a close-fought battle on Sunday. France are the marginal favorite, but the tight odds indicate that Argentina will push Les Blues all the way.
The South Americans booked their place in the final with a convincing 3-0 victory over Croatia. Julian Alvarez bagged a brace, while Lionel Messi scored and assisted – meaning the 35-year-old has notched five goals and three assists in Qatar.
Remarkably, the Argentines have only lost one of their last 42 outings across all competitions. Although they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening World Cup game, they will be confident of lifting the trophy on Sunday.
As for the French, they beat Morocco 2-0 to punch their ticket to the final. Having overcome a strong England outfit in the quarterfinals, Didier Deschamps’ men deserve to be in a second successive World Cup final.
Kylian Mbappe has been the star of the show for Les Blues, racking up five goals and two assists in Qatar. That said, Deschamps’ squad is stacked with world-class players in every department.
With the reinvented Antoine Griezmann pulling the strings – and the evergreen Olivier Giroud continuing to score goals for fun – France doesn’t need to rely solely on Mbappe. Still, the PSG superstar is capable of firing his country to glory.

I expect Les Blues to defend their crown on Sunday, despite the obvious threat of Messi. Deschamps’ men know what it takes to secure the silverware, so I’m confident that Mbappe and co. will seal the deal.
On top of that, I recommend taking advantage of the over 2.5 goals wager. Four of France’s six games in Qatar have produced over 2.5 goals, while the Argentines have scored at least two goals in five of their six encounters.
I also recommend backing Giroud to find the net on Sunday. After bagging a brace against Australia, the France striker scored against Poland and England before coming close on a couple of occasions against Morocco.
