In keeping with the theme of the 2022 World Cup, the round of 16 dished up thrills and spills in great quantities. Now, all the attention turns to the quarterfinals, as the remaining eight teams prepare to put everything on the line.
The quarterfinals kick off this Friday, December 9th, concluding with England and France’s heavyweight showdown on Saturday. With the action resuming tomorrow, here are my 2022 World Cup quarterfinals predictions.
Croatia vs. Brazil Predictions
Odds: Croatia (+700) / Draw (+400) / Brazil (-275)
Understandably, Brazil is the bookmakers’ clear favorite to win this one. The Brazilians hammered South Korea 4-1 in the round of 16, with Neymar returning from injury to grab a goal and an assist in the thrashing.
Meanwhile, Croatia came through 120 minutes of grueling action before eventually knocking out Japan on penalties. Let’s not forget that Zlatko Dalic’s side also played out two goalless draws during the group stage.
Brazil should book their place in the semifinals without any real problems. In order to enhance the odds, I recommend steering clear of the moneyline price and diving into the handicap markets.
Best Bet: Brazil -1 Handicap (+100)
Netherlands vs. Argentina Predictions
Odds: Netherlands (+240) / Draw (+220) / Argentina (+120)

The Netherlands didn’t look overly convincing during the group stage. Although they secured 2-0 wins over Senegal and Qatar, they were also held to a 1-1 draw by Ecuador. Still, they turned on the style in the round of 16 – crushing the USA 3-1.
In fairness, the Argentines lost their opening game before bouncing back with 2-0 victories against Mexico and Poland. They also saw off Australia last time out, with Lionel Messi scoring his third goal of the tournament.
This is destined to be a close-fought battle, but I’m confident that Messi and co. will come out on top in the end.
Best Bet: Argentina (+120)
Morocco vs. Portugal Predictions
Odds: Morocco (+450) / Draw (+260) / Portugal (-150)
It’s fair to say that Morocco is the surprise package in the quarterfinals. Very few people would have expected the Atlas Lions to make it this far, but there is no denying that they deserve their place in the last eight.
After defeating Belgium to cap an unbeaten group-stage campaign, the Moroccans produced a spirited performance to knockout Spain in the previous round. Can they repeat their heroics against Portugal? I think they can!
The Portuguese thrashed Switzerland 6-1 to book their place in the quarterfinals, but Morocco will pose a different threat altogether. At +450, this feels like an opportunity too good to miss.
Best Bet: Morocco (+450)
England vs. France Predictions
Odds: England (+200) / Draw (+220) / France (+140)
A Kylian Mbappe brace helped France beat Poland 3-1 in the previous round. The PSG superstar has racked up five goals and two assists across four appearances in Qatar, although his team has not been overly convincing.
The French conceded against Australia and Denmark before losing to Tunisia in their final group game. Meanwhile, England crushed Iran 6-2 before keeping three consecutive clean sheets to punch their ticket to the last eight.
The Three Lions have also scored 12 goals in their four outings, meaning they average three goals per game in Qatar. With the team firing on all cylinders at both ends of the pitch, I can see England overcoming France.
Best Bet: England (+200)
