Types of Horse Bets

Winner: Lord Miles

The three-year-old colt was bred in Kentucky and has raced for Vegso Racing Stable. He is trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. and is ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. Lord Miles finished third in the ungraded Mucho Macho Man at Gulfstream on Jan. 1 of this year. Also at Gulfstream in Nov. 19, he finished first in a six-furlong sprint over Big Data and There Be Dragons.

As the son of Curlin, Lord Miles is the 5-2 favorite for this race. He went two for two in the money at his first two races at Gulfstream, winning his fall’s race by six lengths with a closing move.

Place: Cyclone Mischief

Posted at 3-1 on the morning line, Cyclone Mischief has jockey Tyler Gaffalione leading him out of the No. 4 gate. Trained by Dale Romans, the three-year-old colt won his first trip this year in one mile on dirt in an Allowance race. He covered the mile in 1:36.48 over Litigate and Mr. Ripple.

Sired by Into Mischief, he has been bred to go over one mile with his stride as far as power and speed. Cyclone Mischief should go neck-and-neck with Lord Miles for first place in the Holy Bull.

How to Bet a Trifecta

Show: Legacy Isle

Trained by Rohan Crichton and ridden by jockey Luis Saez, Legacy Isle is well positioned in the No. 6 gate in this race. The Kentucky-bred colt has finished first or second in three races at Gulfstream. He placed second in the Much Macho Man Stakes on Jan. 1 on a disqualification for drifting out in the stretch run.

Legacy Isle opened at 7-2 for the Holy Bull as a third choice. Sired by Shackleford, he should contend that end of 1 1/16 miles in this race given his speed at the closing stretch.
