Major League Baseball continues to storm its way through the early-2022 season with another day of high-level matchups.
The New York Yankees took a narrow victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in yesterday’s tie between American League contenders, while the Atlanta Braves shrugged off a poor start and took down the high-flying New York Mets.
Here are the best underdogs to bet on Tuesday.
Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs
Best Bet: Cubs ML (+120)
Both Chicago teams have begun their years at 9-13 and won their last time out after enduring rough stretches. The White Sox’s slow start has been a disappointment after they enjoyed some of the best odds to win the AL during the offseason, while the Cubs have impressed following the firesale they held last season.
The Cubs have been far better than their opponents in the box, which should help them snag a victory in game one of the impending series.
The Sox will start Michael Kopech, who has a 1.42 ERA thus far, but the home team will counter with Drew Smyly (1-2, 2.79 ERA), who has not been that far off from his counterpart. Expect the Cubs to win this game behind a better offensive output.
Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros
Best Bet: Mariners ML (+140)

Name value alone would make it seem as if the Astors are unquestionably going to Win Tuesday night’s affair; however, this is not the same Houston team that has been a perennial World Series threat. They are only 12-11 and have not been dominant in any aspect of the game, especially on offense, and have lost their identity.
Seattle, meanwhile, is just outside the top-10 in batting average and home runs and is eighth in total scoring. They also have a proven commodity in Chris Flexen on the mound, giving them stability heading into the matchup.
The Astros do have the potential to morph into a contender at the drop of a hat, but until they show any real interest in consistently winning games, the Mariners can be expected to avenge a game one loss and score a win Tuesday.
New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Best Bet: Yankees ML (+119)
No team in baseball front runs quite as well as the Yankees do— the difference this year is that these Yankees seem to also have the ability to win in low moments too, which is an element that previous years’ squads did not have.
New York won game one in the series with the Blue Jays via a late score and held Toronto to just two runs through the clutch moments, whereas they would have folded last year.
Toronto has all the talent in the world and will almost assuredly wreak havoc in the postseason, but right now, they are playing at a level just below the unquestioned contenders.
They will have ace Alek Manoah going for them, which should help keep the game under the total of eight runs, but the best bet is to go for the pinstripers to score a victory.
