We’re nearing the end of the first Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It’s been a wild ride so far, and the only team that’s moved onto the second Round is the Hurricanes, beating NJ 4-1.
Our team of handicappers are working their magic, and last week walked away with a 75% win rate and almost $2k in profit. Check out what they were betting, and see where our money’s at as Round 1 comes to a close this week.
Top NHL Handicappers Last Week
Last week, the top five handicappers went 21-7 with a total win percentage of 75%. The top five didn’t wager exorbitant amounts last week, and the total winnings were $1,696.
Both the overall win rate and the overall profit dropped from the previous week, as did the number of total wagers.

SAS Insider leads the group once again, while The Bookie and Gino De Luca tail behind, betting conservatively, as per usual.

We’re all familiar with SAS Insider by this point, they’ve appeared in the top five probably a dozen times during the NHL season.
The Playoffs betting strategy isn’t that different from their regular season strat, and they’re leaning toward moneylines with no spread action at all.
Spreads are a bit safer than moneylines, especially in high-octane games like the Playoffs. But SAS Insider seems to have a good balance of betting dogs and favorites when it comes to straight wagers. They went 6-2 with moneylines last week, seeing a big win with their +165 on the Senators.
They also bet a fair number of totals wagers (4-3), but they’re betting fairly high totals. In matchups with two strong defenses, it’s easy to justify betting under 4.5 or so. You’re adding some risk, but will get a better payout. SAS Insider sticks to higher totals, usually 6.5, and stakes more money up front, but reduces risk overall. This is a solid strategy if you don’t have time to research the teams’ performances. It’s not a risk-free wager, but NHL games tend to be relatively low-scoring, especially when two strong teams are fighting for a Round 2 spot.
Where Our Money’s at This Week
The only team to advance to Round 2 so far is the Carolina Hurricanes, having beat the NJ Devils 4-1. The Stars, Golden Knights, Oilers, Senators, Panthers, and Capitals are all one game away from moving up as well, and this week’s games will weed out the rest of the teams for Round 2.

So far, our handicappers have gotten in a few picks for the week. Tonight, it looks like they’re taking the Stars moneyline at +140. The Stars are the dogs in this matchup, but they’re 1 game away from knocking out the Avalanche, so they might pull out a nail-biting W.
