The Los Angeles Dodgers recently became the second team in the league to win their 30th game, joining the New York Yankees, while the Boston Red Sox have now scored 16 runs in two of their last three outings.
Here are the best games to bet on Friday evening.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers
Guardians vs. Tigers Predictions
Best Bet: Guardians -1.5 (+113)
This game is all about trusting logic over trusting a trend; the Guardians lost game one in the ongoing series 4-3 and marked their third straight loss, while the Tigers notched their second consecutive victory.
However, Cleveland is still 18-23 to Detroit’s 16-28, showing that they have been the better team throughout the season— keep in mind that they also recently just returned Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor from injuries, and once they find their rhythm, the results will inevitably follow.
Shane Bieber (1-3, 3.55 ERA) will get the start as he continues to hold the line for his club.
Detroit has gone through most of the season without much of a pulse, aside from the oldest player on its roster, Miguel Cabrera. The ageless wonder is hitting .300 on the season but has not found a teammate who wants to run free with him, which is a major reason why the team has struggled so much.
Alex Faedo (1-1, 3.00 ERA) will be on the mound for the home team, which is looking to wrap up the series early.
Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox
Orioles vs. Red Sox Predictions
Best Bet: Over 9.5 Runs (-110)
The Orioles have been one of the best teams in baseball at covering the spread despite being just 18-27, and although that does not directly impact the over/under, it shows that they are capable of playing up to their opponents.
They also scored at least six runs in three straight games before losing 2-0 to the Yankees in their last outing, which means that their batters are hot. Kyle Bradish (1-3, 5.74 ERA) will get the start, having posted numbers suitable for an over.
The Red Sox have been on fire in the box, scoring 16 in two of their games and thumping opponents in a recent hot stretch. They are still under .500 but are clicking on nearly all cylinders as they climb up the American League East ladder. Garrett Whitlock (1-1, 2.58 ERA) will play his part in what is sure to be an over in Boston.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Los Angeles Angels
Blue Jays vs. Angels Predictions
Best Bet: Blue Jays ML (-116)
The Blue Jays disappointed many at the start of the season, but they have won their past two games convincingly against strong opponents, including one against the Angels, and have other-worldly talent that, while dormant, was due to snap to life eventually. They also have Alek Manoah (5-1, 1.62 ERA) going for them, which never hurts.
The Angels looked like a sneaky pick to win the AL but have been a little off the mark lately, dropping consecutive games and moving to 27-19. Shohei Ohtani has finally found his swing, but a minor drop-off in production from Mike Trout makes them a little less imposing of a threat.
Big-league newcomer Chase Silseth (1-1, 2.61) will be granted the start against Toronto.
Parlay: Twins ML (-173) / Cardinals ML (+125)
The Twins are a quietly impressive team with strong hitters than can send the ball out of the park quicker than a blink; meanwhile, the Royals are one of the worst teams in baseball at 15-28, and although they won the game on in the ongoing series against Minnesota, they were coming off of a six-game losing streak, which is more their speed.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, are a more consistent offensive unit than the Brewers, even if their record pales in comparison.
Milwaukee is also starting Brandon Woodruff, and although this would have been an advantage in the past, he is only 5-2 but with a 4.76 ERA this season.
