Juan Soto won the Home Run Derby on Monday prior to Tuesday’s All-Star game. St. Louis slugger Paul Goldschmidt, a favorite to win the NL MVP, homered in the All-Star game as did the Yankees Giancarlo Stanton and Minnesota’s Byron Buxton.
Of those four, only Stanton, who was named the All-Star Game MVP, will be in action today. The Yankees will play a doubleheader against the Houston Astros. Stanton has 24 homers so far this season. Teammate Aaron Judge continues to lead the majors with 33 and teammate Anthony Rizzo has 22.
Will any of them add to their total today? Here are the top MLB home run props picks for Thursday, July 21st 2022.
Giancarlo Stanton – OVER 0.5 HRs (+240)
Stanton will face Cristian Javier in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Stanton has faced Javier four times this season. He has struck out all four times.
After his All-Star game performance, Stanton will ride the wave of his success and add to his season home run total of 24. Including the All-Star Game, Stanton has five homers in July. He’ll add to it today.
If he plays in Game 2, Stanton could go deep on Astros pitcher Luis Garcia. The Yankees slugger is 1-for-4 against Garcia. That “1” is a homer.
Joc Pederson – OVER 0.5 HRs (+280)
Pederson is hitting .252 for the season and is coming off a 0-for-2 performance in Tuesday night’s All- Star game. He has 17 home runs this season, but went the entire month of July without hitting one. Pederson hit his last home run on June 25 in a win over Cincinnati.
He’s overdue and the timing may be just right. Tonight, Pederson will face Dodgers right-hander Mitch White. Pederson absolutely crushes right-handed pitching. His ISO number jumps from .212 against lefties to .274 against righties.
Of the 17 home runs Pederson has hit so far this season, 15 of them have come against right-handed pitchers.

Seth Brown – OVER 0.5 HRs (+420)
In Game 2 of a doubleheader with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland first baseman Seth Brown will have a chance to do something he hasn’t done in all of July – hit a home run.
Brown is only batting .216, but he at least one hit in nine of his last 11 games. He hasn’t homered since June 26, but today in Game 2 he will face Tigers pitcher Garrett Hill.
Because of all the injuries Tigers pitchers have been having, Hill will get his third MLB start today. He is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA. In his last start, he gave up six earned runs. In each start, Hill allowed a home run. Hill is not an overpowering pitcher, preferring to throw off-speed pitches to produce weak contact. It hasn’t really worked so far.
Freddie Freeman – OVER 0.5 HRs (+500)
Freeman has stepped up his game over the last month or so. He is now batting .321 and has 13 homers for the season. The Dodgers first baseman has four in the month of July.
Tonight, he will face a tough pitching matchup – the Giants Carlos Rodon. Rodon has only allowed four home runs all season long and he’s 8-5 with a 2.66 ERA.
Freeman has been on point recently. In his final eight games before the All-Star game, Freeman went 18-for-32. He hit safely in all eight games and had four hits each in two of those games. He hit three homers and drove in nine runs. He continues his hot streak tonight with a dinger.
