The 2022 Major League Baseball season is quickly approaching its halfway point. Now, teams prepare for their last few series before the intermission.
The New York Mets have come under serious challenge in the National League East from the surging Atlanta Braves. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have finally been able to establish breathing room in the National League West.
Here are the top over/under bets for the holiday.
San Francisco Giants vs., Arizona Diamondbacks
Giants vs. Diamondbacks Predictions
Best Bet: Under 8 Runs
The Giants and Diamondbacks will renew their National League West rivalry. They have a three-game series set to begin in the early evening. The game is a few hours before fireworks light up the night sky.
San Fran is in a terrible rut and has lost four straight in addition to 10 of its last 13. The skid has removed any thoughts they could join the Dodgers or Padres as contenders out of the NL West.
They have also failed to score more than five runs in their last six games. They were held to four or less in five of these six, setting them up to go under yet again.
The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, have the second-worst batting average in baseball. It immediately feeds into any conversations of the under.
Madison Bumgarner squaring off against Carlos Rodon in a pitching matchup is sure to stifle batters on both sides. If this game does go over, it will likely be because of an unforeseen barrage of home runs. However, the best bet is to stay under the total of eight.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves
Cardinals vs. Braves Predictions
Best Bet: Over 9.5 Runs

The Cardinals and Braves are teams that find themselves playing second fiddle in their respective divisions. Each have powerful offenses capable of lifting past their competition and into the playoffs.
Both also have a degree of variability in how many runs they put on the scoreboard. This is due to the assistance they have from their bullpen. However, that does not detract from the offensive power they possess.
The Braves have been the hottest team in baseball over the past month. The Cardinals have one of the best star duos in Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, headlining their roster. With neither starting their best pitchers, this game is set up to be a shootout, thereby going over.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Oakland Athletics
Blue Jays vs. Athletics Predictions
Best Bet: Under 7 Runs
Predicting any game to go under seven runs can be scary, but this one is a prime candidate. The Blue Jays, for all of their other-worldly offensive talent, have not been on the mark as many expected. In contrast, their opponent in Oakland has the league’s worst combined batting average. This is not a strong formula for over bettors.
Toronto will also be starting ace Alek Manoah, whose 2.09 ERA is the fifth-best in all of baseball. Even the A’s Cole Irvin (3.58 ERA) is one of their better options, with the inconsistent offenses, these nine innings could easily result in less than seven total runs.
