MLB Over/Under Picks for Tuesday, July 26th 2022

MLB teams are past the All-Star break and have figured out what type of teams they have. Whether built around pitching or hitting, each team always wants to do its best to try and bring runs across the plate.

Here’s a look at some of Tuesday’s games and where they may land from an offensive perspective.

Braves and Phillies Set for a Big Division Match-up

Braves vs. Phillies Predictions

Only two of the eight games played between the Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies have come in below the projected 7.5 run total of today’s game.

One of them featured Philadelphia’s starting pitcher, Aaron Nola. Nolan threw 8.1 of one-hit ball to help the Phillies beat Atlanta 4-1 on May 26th at Atlanta.

However, in Nola’s second appearance against the Braves, Philadelphia’s offense blew up in a 14-4 win on June 30th. Atlanta starting pitcher Spencer Strider’s only appearance against Philadelphia was a relief appearance where he threw 2.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win. In July, Spencer has allowed seven earned runs in 20.2 innings of work.

While this game could go either way, both offenses have proved to have the knack of playing their best against one other.

Prediction: Over 7.5

McClanahan Set to Run Wild

Rays vs. Orioles Predictions

Shane McClanahan is pitching at a clip not often seen for the Tampa Bay Rays. The left-handed starter is leading the MLB with a 1.71 ERA and has been piling up strikeouts at a high rate. Facing a Baltimore offense that is inclined to strike out could spell a difficult time for Baltimore.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay’s offense ranks in the bottom half of the league in most categories. During the Rays’ current 3-game losing streak, Tampa Bay has been held to three or fewer runs by Baltimore and Kansas City, two teams that are unlikely to contend for the playoffs. Orioles pitcher Spenser Watkins has pitched well in July, allowing just one earned run in each of his last three starts.

Prediction: Under 8.0

Yankees and Mets Set for Subway Series

Yankees vs. Mets Predictions

With both New York teams atop their respective divisions, the opener of the Subway Series may have a playoff feel Tuesday night at Citi Field. The Yankees, who are 5-5 over their past ten games, have plenty of offensive firepower. The Bronx Bombers average over five runs per game and have plenty of power.

The Mets are no slouches on offense either. The Mets are averaging 4.65 runs per game, which ranks sixth in the league.

When it comes to the pitching matchup, each side will have solid starters on the mound. Jordan Montgomery hasn’t had much luck in the win column in July, as the Yankees have lost all four games he’s started.

However, that isn’t Montgomery’s fault, as he has allowed eight runs in 23 innings pitched. Taijuan Walker will take the mound for the Mets. Walker has a 7-2 record and a 2.55 ERA for the Mets this season.

Prediction: Over 8.0
