Major League Baseball is back in action Tuesday with what promises to be an exciting slate of games.
The Toronto Blue Jays scored an 8-0 win over the Kansas City Royals to go a game clear of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East, led by the league-best New York Yankees, while the St. Louis Cardinals are now within a half-game of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central.
While the teams continue to provide the storylines for the season, here are the players primed to write the headlines Wednesday morning.
Alex Manoah 7+ Strikeouts
Blue Jays vs. Royals Predictions
Manoah (6-1, 1.98 ERA) is having a tremendous season for the ascending Blue Jays, and he is going against a Royals team mostly devoid of any standout offensive talent.
The most fear-inducing player on KC is Andrew Benintendi, but he is set to miss the game as he finds himself day-to-day; the Royals lost game one 8-0, doubling down on the sentiment that they do not have the proper players in their lineup to trouble Toronto.
Manoah is not necessarily a high-strikeout pitcher, but he is primed to tee off against a team that will probably let him see a few extra innings as he mows through them.
Trey Mancini 2+ Hits
The Baltimore Orioles’ offensive catalyst is hitting .316 in June and .305 on the season, making him a strong candidate to record a few hits against a troubled Chicago Cubs defense.
If there is one person standing in his way, it is Chicago pitcher Keegan Thompson (6-0, 1.99 ERA), who is having an incredible season, but Mancini still has a solid shot to hit the bet because of his recent momentum.

Kyle Schwarber to Hit a Home Run
Phillies vs. Brewers Predictions
Schwarber is the Philadelphia Phillies’ leader in home runs on the season, and he has hit three in four games this month.
A former Washington National-turned Boston Red Sox player in 2021, he showed how streaky he can be with one of the most memorable mid-season streaks of power-batting dominance— now, he will have the chance to re-establish himself against the Brewers and Jason Alexander, who allowed seven hits and two earned runs in seven innings in his only Major-League appearance this year.
Paul Goldschmidt 2+ Hits
Cardinals vs. Rays Predictions
Goldschmidt has the fourth-best batting average in baseball and came up with two hits in his last game, setting him up for success on Tuesday.
He will be going against Jeffrey Springs, who has a WHIP of just 0.86, but he has built up enough trust over the course of the season to ride with him.
Mookie Betts 2+ Hits
Dodgers vs. White Sox Predictions
Sticking with the theme of 2+ hits, Betts is batting .348 in June and has recorded at least two hits in three of his five games in the same span.
He is also tied for the second-most home runs in baseball with 16, so more confident bettors could risk his chances to go yard— either way, he will have to do it against Michael Kopech (1-2, 2.20 ERA), who has a WHIP of 1.02.
