MLB Bookies

Teams at the top of their divisions are there because of the performances of some of their key players. There are a number of outstanding MLB player props on the board tonight.

Here are the top MLB player props picks for Thursday, May 5th 2022.

Jose Berrios OVER 4.5 Strikeouts

Blue Jays vs. Guardians Picks

Berrios is 2-0 so far in five starts in 2022. He struggled early giving up seven earned runs in his first two starts. The Rangers chased him after just 0.1 innings in the season opener getting four earned runs on four hits, one of which was a homer.

Since then, Berrios has been much better. The one thing he has done well is strike out opposing hitters. He has had at least four Ks in each of his last four starts. Three of the four starts included five or more strikeouts.

Tonight, Berrios faces Cleveland. It’s a solid lineup for the Guardians, but Berrios comes through going Over the strikeout total (4.5) tonight.

MLB Betting Lines

Byron Buxton OVER 0.5 Hits

Twins vs. Orioles Picks

Minnesota takes on the Baltimore Orioles tonight. The Twins lost to the Orioles last night 9-4. It was their first loss after winning four straight.

Byron Buxton went 2-for-5 last night and is 5-for-14 in his last three games. He’s batting .290 for the season and is coming off a 2021 season in which he hit .306.

He’s the Twins best hitter and he’ll face Baltimore’s Spenser Watkins whose 2.55 ERA is misleading. He’s only given up five earned runs this season, but he’s allowed eight total. This is the same Watkins whose ERA last season was 8.07. Buxton gets at least one hit.

Luis Guillorme UNDER 0.5 Hits

Mets vs. Phillies Picks

Guillorme, the Mets shortstop, bats .243 for the season and he’s actually been hitting the ball well over the last week.

In the Mets last five games, Guillorme has at least one hit in four. The one game that he didn’t have a hit was against Atlanta and Braves P Charlie Morton.

Tonight, Guillorme faces a similar pitcher in the Phillies Aaron Nola. His streak of hits in four of the last five games goes to 4-for-6 tonight.

MLB Predictions

Tarik Skubal UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts

Tigers vs. Astros Picks

Skubal goes up against the Astros tonight. That is not favorable for Skubal, who has actually been okay so far this season.

After giving up 35 home runs last year, the Tigers left-hander has yet to surrender a long ball. He did allow three earned runs in his last start though. That was in a 7-1 loss to Minnesota.

The Astros love left-handed pitching. Alex Bregman has a .255 ISO against lefties. Yordan Alvarez, Yuli Gurriel, Kyle Tucker, and Chas McCormick all have ISOs above .200 against left-handed pitching. Houston will jump all over Skubal and he will have a tough time collecting Ks tonight.
