Shohei Ohtani lost last night for the first time since June 2, but he struck out 11 Braves before exiting the game after 6.1 innings.
Ohtani is among the top 10 in strikeouts this season with 134. White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease continues to lead the majors with 150. Reigning NL Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes is right behind him with 149.
Gerrit Cole, who is tied for third with 147 Ks, will start today against Baltimore. He has had two straight double-digit strikeout games. Will that continue today? Here are the top MLB strikeouts props for Saturday, July 23rd 2022.
Gerrit Cole – OVER 7.5 Ks (-140)
Yankees vs. Orioles Predictions
Cole is 9-2 with a 3.02 ERA for the season so far. He’s enjoying a very good July with three wins in four starts. In his last two, Cole pitched seven innings each and allowed just two earned runs combined.
Even more impressive is his strikeout numbers. In his last start, Cole struck out 12 against Boston. In the prior start, he fanned 11 against the Reds.
Cole started back-to-back games against the Orioles in May. He won the first, but Baltimore gave Cole his first loss of the season in the second. However, in that game Cole pitched eight innings and struck out 11.
The Orioles are 25th in strikeouts per game whiffing at an 8.84 rate per game. With the way Cole has been pitching lately, he goes Over this number tonight.
Brady Singer – OVER 4.5 Ks (-160)
The Royals pitchers leave much to be desired, but Singer’s numbers are improving. In three starts in July, Singer has helped Kansas City record three wins. His ERA for the month is 3.06 so far, which is much better than his season ERA of 4.02.
In all three starts, he has gone Over this prop with 6, 5, and 9 strikeouts. In fact, he’s gone Over 4.5 Ks in six of his last seven starts. Singer will face a Tampa Bay lineup today that is 24 th in MLB in strikeouts per game (8.77).
Even in last night’s 7-3 win over Kansas City, the Rays struck out a total of seven times. Singer goes Over this prop again.

Julio Urias – OVER 6.5 Ks (+125)
Giants vs. Dodgers Predictions
Urias has been pitching very well as of late. The Dodgers have won each of his last six starts. In three starts in July, Urias has actually gone Over this prop, but he struck out eight against a struggling Angels lineup and seven against the equally poor Rockies.
Urias has one start against San Francisco this season. He lost but he struck out 10. Since that performance, Urias hasn’t lost. While not known for consistently striking out hitters, Urias has had some success over his last six starts. Back the Dodgers lefty at plus-money.
Chris Bassitt – OVER 5.5 Ks (+125)
Bassitt has had to pick up some of the slack with Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer missing time this season. He is 7-6 with a 3.79 ERA and 104 strikeouts this season.
He has surpassed this prop in six of his last eight starts. One of those was a six-strikeout performance against the Padres (today’s opponent). The impressive thing about that was Bassitt lasted only 3.1 innings as he gave up seven earned runs.
San Diego strikes out 8.17 times per game. Bassitt has pitched at least five innings in his last four starts. He’ll get to this number today.
