Austin FC overtook LAFC in the MLS’s West Division standings with a 3-1 win over Houston last week. Austin and LAFC have the same number of wins, 12, but with one more draw the Texas club has an MLS- best 40 points.
LAFC is 12-3-4 and has 39 points for second place in the West one spot ahead of Nashville SC, LAFC’s opponent this week.
Philadelphia (9-9-2, 36 pts), the two New York teams and CF Montreal are all battling for the East Division lead. This week’s matches will have an impact on the standings and, ultimately the MLS Cup. Here are the MLS predictions for Saturday, July 16th 2022.
Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders
Pick: DRAW +235
Seattle has been extremely inconsistent. The Sounders lost three of their last four matches leaving them at 8-2-9 overall.
Chicago actually trails Seattle in the standings by six points. However, the Fire have been playing very well lately. They have three wins in their last six games, including a 2-0 win over CF Montreal last week.
Seattle is the better team, but playing at home will allow Chicago to play the Sounders to a draw.
Philadelphia vs. New England
Pick: PHILADELPHIA -110

The Union have just two losses the entire MLS season. At 9-9-2, Philadelphia sits atop the East Division with a one-point lead over New York City FC. Philadelphia has not lost at home and has five wins at Subaru Park.
New England suffered a 4-2 loss to New York City last time out. That gives the Revolution just two wins in their previous eight matches overall.
Of all MLS teams, Philadelphia has the best defensive record having given up just 14 goals across 20 matches this season. The Union has four clean sheets in their last nine matches and allowed just five goals in those nine.
At home, Philadelphia gets the win.
CF Montreal vs. Toronto FC
Pick: CF MONTREAL -140
In a matchup of Canadian clubs, CF Montreal gets the best of Toronto FC. Montreal suffered an embarrassing 2-0 loss to Chicago (5-5-10) last week. Playing at home this week, they will rebound.
CF Montreal is the fourth-highest scoring team in MLS with 33 goals in 19 matches. Toronto has just five wins on the season and hasn’t won since June 25. Toronto has three losses and a draw in its last four matches. They were shut out in two of those losses.
What Is Double Chance in Soccer Betting?
FC Dallas vs. Austin FC
Pick: AUSTIN +245
Can Austin FC be stopped? The Texas club has four straight wins and hasn’t lost a match in MLS play since May. Austin just beat Houston in a mid-week match, 3-1.
Dallas, on the other hand, hasn’t won a match since May. At 7-7-6, Dallas has been shut out twice in their last six matches.
On June 25, these two clubs played to a 2-2 draw. With Austin so hot right now and the big plus-money odds, back the West’s top team for the win.
