Most Profitable Teams to Bet on to Begin NHL Season

In looking for the most profitable NHL teams to bet on this season, bettors should dig deep and do their homework. The most profitable team doesn’t always correlate with the “best” team in the league.

It’s possible the most profitable team is one that would be considered average but wins a lot as an underdog or wins on the road consistently.

This year, more than ever, bettors need to understand how teams stack up against the others in their division. Teams will only play the other teams in their division this season.

Here’s a look at the most profitable teams thus far.

Teams Off to Hot Starts in the NHL

Keep in mind that after about two weeks of the 2021 NHL season, Toronto has a 6-2 overall record and leads the league in points with 12. The Maples Leafs are not the league’s most profitable team to bet on though.

That honor belongs to Winnipeg, which is 5-2 so far this season and is up $236. The Jets have been profitable both at home and on the road where they own records of 2-1 and 3-1, respectively.

Toronto is among the league’s most profitable teams though with plus money at home and on the road for a total profit of $215. The Maple Leafs are 3-1 at home and 3-1 on the road this season.

The other teams bettors should seek out are the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars. Both teams are 3- 0 thus far having missed a few games due to coronavirus issues. Florida is 2-0 at home and 1-0 on the road for a total profit of $227. Dallas has played all three games at home and is up $223 so far this season.

The Stars and Panthers play in the Central Division where Nashville, 4-3, is in first place with eight points. The Predators have not been good to bettors though as they are 0-2 on the road and -$200 for a total loss of -$17.

The Capitals lead the East Division with a 4-0-3 record and 11 points. New Jersey, which is 3-2-1, is the better bet though having posted profits at home (2-1-1) and on the road (1-1) for a total profit of $140. The other team to watch is out West – the Los Angeles Kings. L.A. is 3-2-2 overall and has eight points.

The Kings have not profited at home, but have come through big with $220 on the road for an overall profit of $110.

Looking Ahead

Sticking with the Kings, six of their next eight games are Anaheim, Minnesota, and San Jose all teams sitting below the King in the West Division standings. Five of those eight are at home while two of them are at division leader Vegas.

Toronto is another strong team to continue backing. The Maple Leafs do equally well on the road and at home. Six of their next ten games will be against Vancouver (4-5) and Ottawa (1-5-1). All six are at home. Montreal, which has profited bettors $124, hasn’t lost in regulation yet this season (4-0-2) and leads the league in goals per game with 4.89.
