We’re down to the second-to-last weekend of the NBA regular season. Prepare for betting the NBA on Saturday with a few of our favorite picks of the day.
Washington Wizards at Indiana Pacers Prediction
Wizards vs. Pacers Betting Report
Best Bet – OVER 247.5 points
There’s no juicier game of interest than this Washington-Indiana game. These two teams played to a 154-141 final a week ago in regulation. There’s every reason to believe a repeat performance is in store – don’t get scared off by this high total.
Both the Wizards and Pacers own defenses that are generous to points in bunches. For Indiana, they are the worst defense in the NBA at stopping points in the paint. Washington allows the most points per game to oppose offenses and isn’t good at stopping anything.
The Wizards are the right offense to take advantage of this Indiana defensive weakness. Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook prefer to do their scoring near the rim. As a team, Washington is fifth in the NBA in points in close. They should be able to do as they please against this poor Indiana interior defense.
As mentioned, the Washington defense is poor across the board. Domantas Sabonis and Caris Levert should both have big games. They both scored over 30 when these teams last met, and Sabonis also scored 35 in the first meeting of the year.
The cherry on top for this total pick is the speed these offenses play at. Indiana and Washington are two of the fastest offenses in the league – they move the ball quickly and get shots up in a hurry.
The Pacers are the best team in the NBA against over/unders. Bet this over confidently on Saturday night.
Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz Prediction
Rockets vs. Jazz Betting Report
Best Bet – Jazz -15
With two teams on such different spectrums, there are a few ways to target the game. The Jazz owns a top-five offense and a top-five defense. The Rockets have a bottom-ten unit on both sides.
Utah’s offense could hit their team total over on their own. Utah’s defense also should be able to hold Houston under its team total under.
Instead of targeting both sides of the ball, we take the entire game here with a bet on the Jazz to cover the big spread at home.
Utah is the best team against the spread at home this season, at 22-11.
At this point in the season, it’s best to focus on teams with something to play for. The Jazz are in a position to secure the top seed in the Western Conference and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. That’s an honor they want.
The Rockets have nothing to play for – trust the Jazz to cover this one.
Memphis Grizzlies at Toronto Raptors Prediction
Grizzlies vs. Raptors Betting Report
Best Bet – Grizzlies -5.5
Similar logic to the above, this pick starts with where each team’s life cycle is with the season waning. The Raptors are all but out of it in the East, while the Grizzlies are looking to build continuity in advance of the play-in tournament.
Memphis is a balanced team on both ends, led by Ja Morant. The key differentiator here is Jaren Jackson – who has missed much of the season. The third-year big is ramping up his involvement before the playoffs. As the Grizzlies work out the kinks of their new rotation, the Raptors don’t have the juice to keep up.
The Grizzlies are 19-13 ATS at home. The Raptors are 15-19 ATS on the road.
