The NBA is rolling again, and with two matchups slated for Tuesday night action, America’s Bookie customers get an opportunity to watch a pair of MVP’s returning to action after injuries.

In the first part of the double-header, the Golden State Warriors, with Steph Curry, visit the Brooklyn Nets, who welcome Kevin Durant to the lineup, and in the nightcap, the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers clash with the LA Clippers.
Warriors at Nets Predictions
The Nets genuinely face a dilemma, as they may not have enough basketballs to go around. First-year coach Steve Nash has (apparently) wisely decided that Caris LeVert, who was far and away the first option in the bubble, when the Nets were down to a skeleton crew, would come off the bench. LeVert was incredibly effective in Orlando, but his Usage figure was off the charts.
As it is, the Nets will, over the course of the season, have to develop a chemistry first between Durant and Kyrie Irving, and then also with supporting players, including Spencer Dinwiddie, who averaged over 20 points a game last year. Brooklyn should have the ability to accelerate the tempo, because Nash and top assistant Mike D’Antoni were very successful stepping things up in Phoenix together.
America’s Bookie customers should expect them to shoot a lot of threes. And of course, Golden State’s Steph Curry is one of the elite performers in that regard. Coming off a broken hand that limited him to just five games last year, he’ll have a similar problem to Durant, working himself back into game shape.
This will be a very different Warrior lineup then we have seen in recent years. One of the great complementary players in the league, Draymond Green, is out for Tuesday’s game. When he returns, he’ll have to complement Andrew Wiggins, a scorer-type who has never really been part of a winning situation; Kelly Oubre, who is seen as a replacement for Klay Thompson, who is out for the year, and rookie center James Wiseman, who should be an intriguing project but is a veteran of only three college games.
The Nets have more punch, and yes, this could evolve into a duel between ex-teammates (Durant and Curry). We like Brooklyn to stroke paydirt early.

Clippers at Lakers Predictions
There are some material changes on the rosters of both of these sides. But it’s the Clippers (now apparently being stylized as ‘LA Clippers’) who have made the coaching change. There was tremendous disappointment in Doc Rivers after his team, which was built to challenge for a championship, was eliminated from the playoffs right away.
So Tyronn Lue, who was more or less a caddy for LeBron James in Cleveland, takes over as head coach. There are new people, like Serge Ibaka and Luke Kennard, but there’s an awful lot of continuity as well. They need something like that, because Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverley didn’t spend a heck of a lot of time together, for one reason or another.
The big loss was Montrezl Harrell, who won the Sixth Man of the Year Award. The club just figured they didn’t need him. But their loss was the Lakers’ gain, as they picked Harrell up. But he’s not critical to our discussion, because he’ll enter the game later.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis will carry things here, and nothing less than that would be expected. But veterans Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Danny Green and JaVale McGee are gone. Marc Gasol, who, like Howard, is a former Defensive Player of the Year, will be the center, and he’s more versatile offensively than Howard or McGee. Rondo’s presence will be missed come playoff time, but Dennis Schroder is going to bring a lot of offensive energy (18.9 ppg last year).
You can’t accuse the Lakers of being slow starters; last season they were third in the NBA in first quarter points and second best in first quarter point differential (2.7 points a game). So they are the side we’ll be pursuing at America’s Bookie.
