NBA underdogs have been fighting a battle all season long. They have won just 32.6 percent of the time this season.
Against the spread, those NBA dogs are having a bit more luck covering just about 50 percent of the time. It’s been the road underdog that has had the most success. Road dogs are 286-270-9 (51.4%) so far this season.
Which ones will hit tonight? Here are the top NBA underdog picks for Thursday, February 24, 2022.
Phoenix Suns vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
PICK: THUNDER +10.5
The Thunder are a lottery team. That’s for sure, but one thing that OKC has done this season is cover the spread. While the Thunder are just 18-40 SU, they are 35-19-4 ATS. That’s one of the best ATS marks in the NBA. OKC is second behind Memphis having covered in 64.8 percent of their games.
Oklahoma City also does well at home where they are 15-9-4 ATS. The Thunder also does well against Phoenix. They are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 against the Suns. Phoenix will be without Chris Paul, which will help the Thunder sneak in and get this cover.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves Pick
PICK: TIMBERWOLVES +2.5
Minnesota has been a pleasant surprise this season. Karl-Anthony Towns had an outstanding All-Star weekend and is primed to get back at it as the T-Wolves look to stay in playoff contention.
Memphis is the most profitable team in the NBA with a 40-20 ATS mark this season. They are second in the NBA in scoring and Ja Morant is coming off his first All-Star appearance.
The T-Wolves are fifth in the league in scoring and they are third in pace. They have been able to run and win as of late. They are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games and 6-1 in their last seven at home. Minnesota wants to send a statement to the rest of the West and will do so tonight.
Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings
PICK: KINGS +4.5
It would be easy to simply overlook the Kings here. They are just 22-38 and 13th in the Western Conference. Sacramento won just two of its last five games before the All-Star.
However, the Kings are 2-1 in the last three games against the Nuggets. Both of those wins came at home. Yes, Denver won five of its last six games before the All-Star break and have the reigning league MVP in Nikola Jokic.
But, Sacramento is 4-2 ATS in its last six home games against the Nuggets. The Kings will surprise tonight by keeping this one close.
Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets
PICK: NETS +7
There’s just simply no way the Nets could cover here, right? Boston beat Brooklyn by 35 just before the All-Star break. The Nets won’t have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, or Ben Simmons.
With everything stacked against them, Brooklyn gets the surprise cover. They get a little revenge for the blowout loss to the Celtics on Feb. 8. Don’t forget, Brooklyn is 9-1 ATS in its last ten home games against Boston.
