As the calendar flips to February, things really start to heat up in the sport of college basketball. Teams are not only trying to get to the top of the conference standings, but each team is also trying to play themselves into the NCAA Tournament.
With so much on the line, college basketball games will continue to get better, and that will impact betting as well. With that in mind, here are five of the best NCAA basketball bets to make for Tuesday, February 1.
Spread Bet: Kansas Jayhawks -3.5
The Kansas Jayhawks travel to Iowa State on Tuesday night for a huge matchup in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas is always a team to beat in this league, and Iowa State has been a massive surprise this season.
The Jayhawks just suffered a blowout loss to Kentucky this weekend, and that’s going to wake this Kansas team up. Iowa State comes into this game with some momentum, but they still need to prove they can beat a terrific team.
This game might get out of hand in the second half as Kansas is clearly the better team. Take the Jayhawks -3.5 over the Cyclones in this Big 12 Conference showdown.
Moneyline Underdog: Texas Longhorns +195
A pair of 16-5 rivals meet up on Tuesday night when the Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Texas Longhorns. There is also some added juice to this game as Chris Beard takes his current Texas team back to his old stomping grounds.
Texas Tech is the betting favorite in this matchup, and the Red Raiders are always tough to beat at home. Texas went through a rough patch, but the Longhorns have now won three straight games.
Both of these teams can really defend, and the first team to 60 might come away with the win. Texas will pick up a monster win over Texas Tech on the road, and they should be your underdog moneyline pick.
Total Bet: Alabama/Auburn- Under 155.5
Alabama and Auburn meet up on the hardwood on Tuesday night, and this is a highly-anticipated matchup. These two rivals are both averaging right around 80 points per game, and the over/under is set at 155.5 points.
The Crimson Tide picked up an impressive win over Baylor this weekend, but the rest of the year has not gone as expected. Auburn has had a different season as they are currently the top team in the country.
This should be a wildly entertaining game, but combining for nearly 160 points just isn’t going to happen. Take the under 155.5 as this is the safest over/under play for the day.
Two-Team Parlay: Providence ML / Michigan State ML
Providence vs. St. John’s Pick / Michigan State vs. Maryland Pick
If you are going to put together a two-team parlay for Tuesday night, there are two road teams to take a close look at. Providence is a slight underdog at St. John’s, and Michigan State is a small road favorite at Maryland.
It seems strange that Providence is an underdog at St. John’s because the Friars have won five straight games entering this matchup. The Red Storm have gone just 1-3 in their last four games, and they are going to struggle in this game.
Michigan State enters Tuesday night with a record of 16-4, and they are taking on a Maryland squad that is just 11-10. The Terrapins are always a tough team to deal with at home, but Spartans have no trouble winning games on the road.
Providence and Michigan State are both going to win road games on Tuesday night and make the perfect two-team parlay options.
