With a colossal 14 match-ups on the schedule, tracking down the best NHL player props for today’s games might seem like a tricky task. Lucky for you, I have explored the NHL odds to find the top picks for Saturday, January 21st.
Matthew Tkachuk – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+110)
On Friday, Matthew Tkachuk scored twice from nine shots on goal when the Florida Panthers thrashed the Montreal Canadiens 6-2. Today, the in-form winger looks destined to enjoy even more success when the Minnesota Wild visit FLA Live Arena.
Tkachuk has racked up 165 shots on goal across 44 appearances this season, meaning he averages 3.75 SOG per game in 2022-23. Having registered nine shots against Montreal last time out, Tkachuk should reach over 3.5 SOG against Minnesota.
Jason Robertson – Over 1.5 Points (+120)
Following an impressive 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, the Dallas Stars remain at the summit of the Central Division. Granted, the Stars have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, but Jason Robertson has continued to shine.
Indeed, Robertson has chalked up 11 points in his previous 10 outings – notching over 1.5 points on four occasions in that time. Only three players have registered more points than Robertson this season, so I’m backing him to run riot against the struggling Arizona Coyotes.
Auston Matthews – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-165)

Having won five of their last seven encounters, the Toronto Maples Leafs will be confident of dispatching the Montreal Canadiens, who find themselves rock bottom of the Atlantic Division – six places below high-flying Toronto.
Auston Matthews has played a key role in Toronto’s campaign up to now, averaging 4.27 shots on goal per game. Matthews has accumulated 12 shots on goal across his previous two appearances, so he shouldn’t struggle to record over 3.5 SOG against lowly Montreal.
Andre Burakovsky – Over 0.5 Points (-125)
Avalanche vs. Kraken Predictions
The Seattle Kraken snatched first place in the Pacific Division with a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday. With nine wins coming in their past 11 games, the Kraken are undoubtedly one of the league’s in-form teams right now.
Not only has Andre Burakovsky scored five points in the last six games, but he has also scored 10 in the previous 10. The Colorado Avalanche will be a tricky opponent on Saturday, but I expect Burakovsky to enhance his points tally at Climate Pledge Arena.
Zach Hyman – Over 0.5 Points (-200)
Oilers vs. Canucks Predictions
Naturally, Connor McDavid tends to grab the headlines whenever the Edmonton Oilers produce a winning performance, but it could be argued that Zach Hyman has been the standout player for the team from Rogers Place in recent times.
Indeed, Hyman has amassed eight points across the previous four games – taking his tally to 52 points in 46 outings this season. The Oilers boast the longest current winning streak in the NHL, so I can see them – and Hyman – enjoying plenty of success against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
