NHL Player Props Picks for Thursday, January 12th 2023

We have no fewer than 12 NHL games to enjoy – and bet on – this Thursday, January 12th. With 75% of the league’s teams in action on Thursday, there is no end of NHL player props to capitalize on.

NHL Bookies

Given the range of NHL betting options on offer, I have decided to look at four markets – goals, assists, points and shots on goal – to give you the best possible chance of making a tasty midweek profit.

Without further ado, here are my recommended NHL player props picks for Thursday.

Mitch Marner – Over 0.5 Assists (-200)

Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Predictions

Thanks to a run of three straight wins, the Toronto Maple Leafs sit second in the Atlantic division – four places above the Detroit Red Wings. On Thursday, the in-form Maple Leafs face the inconsistent Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.

Mitch Marner has played a key role in Toronto’s campaign up to now, with only five players providing more assists in the NHL this season. Having registered six assists across the past five games, Marner should add to his tally on Thursday.

NHL Odds

Brady Tkachuk – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-165)

Senators vs. Coyotes Predictions

Only four players have racked up more shots on goal than Brady Tkachuk in 2022-23. The Ottawa Senators star averages 4.35 SOG per game this season, with over 4.5 SOG coming in six of his previous ten appearances.

The Senators will be confident of dominating the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, as the Coyotes are enduring a six-game losing streak. With that in mind, Tkachuk shouldn’t struggle to notch over 3.5 shots on goal.

David Pastrnak – Over 4.5 Shots on Goal (-115)

Kraken vs. Bruins Predictions

On the topic of shots on goal, let’s talk about David Pastrnak. Having chalked up 203 shots on goal in 40 games this season, Pastrnak finds himself at the summit of the SOG leaderboard with an average of 5.08 SOG per game in 2022-23.

Thanks largely to Pastrnak’s efforts, the Boston Bruins find themselves atop the Eastern conference. Although they face a tricky test against the in-form Seattle Kraken on Thursday, I’m confident that Pastrnak will achieve over 4.5 SOG.

NHL Picks

Martin Necas – Over 0.5 Points (-180)

Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets Predictions

The Carolina Hurricanes racked up a mammoth 11-game winning streak last month. Since the turn of the year, however, the Canes have suffered four consecutive losses. Still, they remain at the summit of the Metropolitan division.

In my eyes, Thursday’s game against the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets provides the Hurricanes with the ideal opportunity to return to winning ways. No Carolina player has registered more points than Martin Necas this season, so I’m backing him to lead the revival.

Brayden Point – Over 0.5 Goals (+110)

Canucks vs. Lightning Predictions

Brayden Point has been the Tampa Bay Lightning’s main source of goals this season. The 26-year-old has netted 23 goals across 49 appearances in 2022-23, meaning he averages 0.59 goals per game.

On Thursday, the Lightning host the Vancouver Canucks, who find themselves third from bottom in the Pacific division after suffering five defeats in six games. With Tampa Bay sitting third in the Atlantic division, Point will fancy his chances of enhancing his goals tally.
