NHL Player Props Picks for Thursday, January 19th 2023

We have a whopping 13 NHL games to indulge in this Thursday, January 19th. With 26 of the league’s 32 teams taking to the rink, there is no shortage of attractive NHL player props to take advantage of. Here are my top five NHL player props picks for Thursday.

Best NHL Betting Sites

Kevin Hayes – Over 0.5 Goals (+185)

Blackhawks vs. Flyers Preview

Kevin Hayes scored three goals when the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Anaheim Duck 5-2 earlier this week, ending a run of five games without a goal. With the struggling Chicago Blackhawks up next, Hayes will be confident of scoring in back-to-back outings.

Having won just 12 of their 42 games this season, the Blackhawks find themselves rock bottom of the Central Division. The Flyers have won four of their last five games – and eight of their previous ten – so I’m backing Hayes to find the net on Thursday.

Live NHL Odds

Kirill Kaprizov – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+110)

Wild vs. Hurricanes Preview

Following three straight wins, the Minnesota Wild will fancy their chances of overcoming the Carolina Hurricanes, who have taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks – suffering five defeats in seven games.

Granted, the Hurricanes racked up a monster 11-game winning streak not so long ago, but they have struggled for consistency since the turn of the year. Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov averages 3.91 shots on goal per game this season, so I can see him notching over 3.5 SOG against the Canes.

Troy Terry – Over 0.5 Points (-175)

Ducks vs. Blue Jackets Preview

Although the Anaheim Ducks find themselves at the foot of the Pacific Division on a five-game losing streak, they can take confidence from the fact that the Columbus Blue Jackets sit rock bottom of the Metropolitan Division on a two-game losing run.

Troy Terry has been a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy campaign for Anaheim, chalking up 36 points and 128 shots on goal in 2022-23. After registering three points across the past three games, I’m confident that he will add to his tally against lowly Columbus.

Expert NHL Picks

Leon Draisaitl – Over 1.5 Points (+140)

Lightning vs. Oilers Preview

The Edmonton Oilers duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have combined for a whopping 154 points this season, with McDavid picking up 84 and Draisaitl claiming 70. In fact, McDavid is the only player to have recorded more points than Draisaitl in 2022-23.

On Thursday, the Oilers won’t find life easy against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who head to Rogers Place on a five-game winning streak. Even so, I expect Draisaitl to enjoy plenty of success on home soil – notching over 1.5 points for the fourth successive game.

Jonathan Marchessault – Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+110)

Red Wings vs. Golden Knights Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights sit at the summit of the Pacific Division with an impressive 28 wins under their belt, while the Detroit Red Wings find themselves third from bottom in the Atlantic Division with only 18 wins to their name.

Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault has racked up 24 shots on goal across his previous six appearances, averaging four SOG per game in that time. Given the contrasting form of Vegas and Detroit, I can see Marchessault securing over 3.5 shots on goal once again.
