NHL Player Props Picks for Tuesday, December 20th 2022

The pre-Christmas NHL action continues on Tuesday, December 20th. With a total of eight games on the schedule, there are plenty of exciting NHL player props to take advantage of.

NHL Sportsbooks

The Metropolitan Division dishes up a tasty battle between the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes, while the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lighting go head-to-head in the Atlantic Division. These are just two of the standout match-ups on the slate.

Without further ado, here are my top five NHL player props picks for Tuesday.

Jack Hughes – Over 0.5 Goals (+165)

Devils vs. Hurricanes Picks

It is no secret that New Jersey is struggling at the moment. The Devils have lost each of their last five games, although they still find themselves atop the Metropolitan Division.

Despite New Jersey’s iffy form, Jack Hughes has been immense. The 21-year-old has scored eight goals across his last ten appearances, so I expect him to find the net against the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

NHL Betting Odds

Jacob Trouba – Over 2.5 Blocked Shots (-125)

Rangers vs. Penguins Picks

Only one player – Alec Martinez of the Vegas Golden Knights – has racked up more blocked shots than Jacob Trouba this season. The New York Rangers captain has registered 83 blocks in 33 outings, meaning he averages 2.5 blocks per game in 2022-23.

The Rangers sit one place above the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division, so Tuesday’s game will likely be a close-fought battle. With that in mind, backing Trouba to record over 2.5 blocked shots makes a lot of sense.

Nikita Kucherov – Over 1.5 Points (+180)

Lightning vs. Maple Leafs Picks

Second-place Toronto leads third-place Tampa Bay by a narrow margin in the Atlantic Division. However, the Maples Leafs have lost their last two games, while the Lighting heads to Scotiabank Arena on a five- game winning streak.

Only three players have chalked up more points than Nikita Kucherov this season. The Tampa Bay star has registered 47 points in 30 games, picking up 12 goals and 35 assists. I can see him notching over 1.5 points against Toronto.

NHL Predictions

Josh Morrissey – Over 0.5 Assists (-200)

Senators vs. Jets Picks

Josh Morrissey finds himself fifth on the assists leaderboard, having recorded 31 assists in 31 games this season. As it stands, the Winnipeg Jets star sits just five assists behind league-leader Connor McDavid.

On Tuesday, the Jets host the Ottawa Senators, who sit rock bottom of the Atlantic Division. Since Winnipeg occupies second place in the Central Division, I’m confident that Morrissey will add to his assists tally.

Kevin Hayes – Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)

Blue Jackets vs. Flyers Picks

The Columbus Blue Jackets find themselves at the foot of the Metropolitan Division following four defeats. When you look at the bigger picture, they have won just ten of their 31 games in 2022-23.

Although the Philadelphia Flyers sit one place above Columbus, they managed to claim an impressive win against New Jersey last week. Kevin Hayes is Philly’s leading shot-taker this season, so I’m backing him to notch over 2.5 SOG against the struggling Blue Jackets.
