Now, it’s on to Game 2. Can the Lightning even up the series before it moves to Tampa for Games 3 and 4?

Both teams will need their stars to step up and contribute. Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point did have assists for the Lightning as did Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen (2) for the Avalanche.

Who will it be in Game 2? Here are the best NHL Stanley Cup player props picks for Game 2.

Read our Lightning vs. Avalanche betting preview for game 2.

Ondrej Palat – Anytime Goal Scorer (+205)

Palat is quietly becoming a star for the Lightning. He scored in Game 1 to give him nine goals in 18 playoff games this season.

Remember, Tampa Bay is 19-1 SU in their last 20 playoff games following a loss. One of the reasons for their recent success is Palat. He got an assist from Kucherov and Palat’s line ended up with seven shots in Game 1. Palat had four of those shots.

With six goals in his past eight games, Palat will get his chances again tonight and will find the net again.

NHL Over/Under Odds

Arturri Lehkonen – Over 0.5 Points (-105)

Lehkonen skates on the third line for Colorado. That allows him to miss matching up against Tampa Bay stud defenseman Victor Hedman.

Lehkonen is also on the Avs’ second power play unit which gives him more opportunities to hit this prop. That is something he has done in four of his past five games.

The Avs forward scored a goal in Game 1 and in Colorado’s 13 playoff wins this year Lehkonen has seven goals and 11 points. He’ll add another tonight.

Nathan MacKinnon – Anytime Goal Scorer (+110)

MacKinnon is second in playoff goals with 11, or 0.73 per game. He didn’t score in Game 1 but did have an assist. It will be hard to keep him out of the net in two consecutive games.

He leads all of the Avs forwards in ice time with 21:11 per game, so he will have plenty of opportunity to score.

We’ll play it safe with the Anytime Goal Scorer, but MacKinnon is also given +950 odds to be the game’s First Goal Scorer. Colorado leads all playoff teams with 20 first-period goals.

NHL Over/Under Predictions

Nikita Kucherov – Over 3.5 Shots (+140)

Kucherov had just one shot in Game 1, but he leads Tampa Bay in shots during the postseason with 61. That comes out to 3.39 per game.

With an assist in Game 1, Kucherov now has 24 points (7 goals) in 18 games. Tampa Bay will be a bit more aggressive in Game 2 as they don’t want to go down 2-0 before going back to South Florida.

In six games against the Rangers, Kucherov averaged 4.6 shots and in the four against Florida he averaged 3.5. At plus-money, this is a great value bet.
