Premier League matchweek 21 gets underway on Saturday, January 21st, with Liverpool hosting Chelsea in the early kick-off. We have six EPL games to enjoy and bet on this Saturday, in addition to three match-ups on Sunday.
Below, I share my top five Premier League picks for matchweek 21. I have scoured the EPL odds to find the best bets for this weekend, so let’s start with my Liverpool vs. Chelsea pick and work our way through the rest of my recommended wagers.
Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Best Bet: Both Teams to Score (-154)
Believe it or not, ninth-placed Liverpool and tenth-placed Chelsea are locked on 28 points in the Premier League standings. These two giants are used to battling at the top end of the table, but they have flattered to deceive this season.
It is worth noting, however, that both teams have scored in six of Liverpool’s last eight games across all competitions. Since both teams have scored in 12 of Liverpool’s 18 league outings this term, the BTTS wager is surely the best bet for this match-up.
Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
Best Bet: Over 2.5 Goals (-120)
It’s safe to say that Brighton is on a roll at the moment. Not only have the Seagulls won three of their last four Premier League games, but they have also won five of their previous seven. As a result, they find themselves seventh in the table – 13 points clear of struggling Leicester.
All of Brighton’s previous eight league matches have produced over 2.5 goals, with six of those clashes dishing up over 3.5 goals. Given that Leicester has one of the worst defensive records in the division, this is destined to be a high-scoring affair.
AFC Bournemouth vs. Nottingham Forest
Best Bet: Nottingham Forest to Win (+162)
Bournemouth has suffered four straight league defeats since the World Cup, failing to score a single goal in the process. Worse still, the Cherries have lost eight of their past nine league outings – leaving them one point outside the relegation zone.
By contrast, Nottingham Forest has turned things around following a shaky start to the season. The Tricky Trees have secured three clean-sheet victories in their last five league games, so I can see them heaping more misery on lowly Bournemouth.
How to Bet on Corners in Soccer
Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle United
Best Bet: Newcastle United to Keep a Clean Sheet (+125)
No team in the Premier League has kept more clean sheets than Newcastle this season, while no team has a better defensive record. The Magpies have conceded a measly 11 goals in 19 games, achieving 11 shutouts along the way.
On the flip side, only four sides have scored fewer goals than Crystal Palace this term. Since the Eagles have failed to score in four of their previous five league matches, they will struggle to get past Nick Pope this weekend.
Leeds United vs. Brentford
Best Bet: Over 2.5 Goals (-143)
Seven of Leeds United’s previous eight league games have dished up over 2.5 goals, with five of those clashes producing over 3.5 goals. Consequently, 12 of the club’s 18 Premier League matches have seen at least three goals this season.
Brentford has also been involved in plenty of high-scoring clashes this term, with 11 of their 19 league outings producing over 2.5 goals. With that in mind, I’m confident that Leeds and Brentford will combine for at least three goals on Sunday.
