The English Premier League is in its final stages, and races for the title, top four, and relegation are as close as ever.
Arsenal made a huge leap by beating Chelsea and Manchester United last week, moving into fourth place with a two-point advantage on fifth-place Tottenham, while Everton is at serious risk of facing the drop.
Here are the best picks for this Saturday’s games in the league.
Top Match-Winner: Manchester City (-350)
The odds are not going to be very profitable, but it seems like a foregone conclusion that City will win against Leeds at the weekend. They got their midweek competition out of the way early on Tuesday, beating Real Madrid 4-3 at the Etihad, and will have a chance to rotate a few players against Leeds.
Leeds has improved slightly under new manager Jesse Marsch but not enough to suggest that they will take down the consensus best team in the world, especially considering they have more rest than they are accustomed to. This will be best for big bettors who have the cash to splash, as the odds are only around -350 at the time of publication.
Parlay: Aston Villa (-250) / Brighton (+185)
Aston Villa has been up and down since manager Steven Gerrard’s arrival, but they have been consistent against the “lesser” teams, even if they cannot yet compete against the dominant power in the league. Norwich showed a bit of life against Man U, but then again, their prestigious name does not make up for the fact they have one of the worst defensive lines in England. Villa should be able to keep a clean sheet against their soon-to-be relegated foe and come out with a victory.
Brighton, meanwhile, has recently shown a resurgence after dropping its impressive early-season form. They were held to a draw against Southampton via a James Ward-Prowse brace, but they are still playing some of their best football in recent months. Wolverhampton, meanwhile, has been struggling for goals and dropping its usual standards, especially against teams near the middle of the table.
Top Asian Handicap: Newcastle +1, +1.5 (-108)
Newcastle vs. Liverpool Predictions
Newcastle has made massive strides since the January transfer window and ensuing arrival of manager Eddie Howe, moving out of the relegation zone and up to ninth in the table with 43 points. Newcastle has also won its last four matches and is in great form ahead of the clash; Liverpool is similarly in a majestic run, but they have distractions in the Champions League that will also draw their attention, leading them to rotate their squad and remain vulnerable to a challenge. A Liverpool win by one goal still means a win for Newcastle bettors, so this is the path to follow.
Top Match Total: Watford v Burnley Under 2.5 Goals (-120)
Watford and Burnley have scored the two fewest goals in the league this season; they will have far more chances than they usually do, given they are both terrible defensively, but neither team has the eye for goal or momentum needed to drive the total up. It is completely possible that this match ends in a goalless draw or a 1-0 victory for either side.
