Three NCAA Basketball Underdogs to Bet on for Tuesday

Here is a look at three underdogs you should consider for the Tuesday evening college basketball schedule:

Nittany Lions at Badgers ATS Pick

Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Wisconsin Badgers Trends

Best Bet: Nittany Lions +7

This has less to do with Penn State than it does with Wisconsin not being consistent on the season. The Badgers are just 9-9 against the spread on the season and equally mediocre at home at just 6-6 ATS.

Wisconsin is 12-4 straight-up as the favorite this season, but we aren’t taking the Nittany Lions for a straight-up victory (again) here.

Yes, we should also not overlook the fact that Penn State just defeated Wisconsin in State College, Pa., last weekend. It wasn’t just a victory for Penn State; it was a double-digit victory.

The Nittany Lions have covered the spread in four of their six road games this season and are outperforming the spread by 4.6 points in those games. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is underperforming the spread by 1.1 points per game on the season.

The Nittany Lions shoot the three-pointer well enough to at least keep the game close even if they don’t win the contest outright. Penn State boasts five players that shoot at least 35% from behind the arc and currently ranks fourth in the Big Ten at 35.9% from deep in league play.

Tar Heels at Tigers ATS Pick

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Clemson Tigers Trends

Best Bet: Tigers +3

This is a sketchy play, to say the least. Since coming back from their COVID-19 pause, the Tigers have lost four of five games by an average of 24.5 points per game.

The sole victory in that stretch came against a Louisville team that only managed 50 points in the game, and Clemson didn’t exactly blow the Cardinals out, putting only 54 on the board itself.

North Carolina appears to be putting it together with a 6-1 record in its last seven games. So why make this play?

Clemson is 4-2-1 against the spread in its last seven games played at home and 6-1 straight-up in its last seven games at home. On the other side, North Carolina is just 4-8 against the spread in its last 12 games and 2-4 against the spread in its last six games against Clemson. The Tar Heels are also just 1-6 ATS in their last seven true road games.

Bulldogs at Razorbacks ATS Pick

Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Trends

Best Bet: Bulldogs +7

This is another tough game pick, but the Razorbacks just aren’t as good as their record may indicate. They have some talented pieces in Moses Moody, JD Notae, and some others, but it’s hard to be sold on a team whose best win on the season is over Auburn.

On the flip side, the Bulldogs have a nice habit of keeping games close. Even in their two most recent losses, Mississippi State only lost to Alabama by eight points and Tennessee by three points.

In their last five games, the Bulldogs are 4-1 against the spread. Remarkably, they are also 6-0 both against the spread and straight-up versus the Razorbacks in their last six meetings.

In Arkansas’ last six games, it is just 2-4 against the spread.
