The featured event on Friday’s five-race card at Del Mar is the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile for the top two-year old Thoroughbreds in this year’s class. There are 12 contenders listed as entered for this race looking to take a major step forward on the 2022 Kentucky Derby Trail.

Win: Jack Christopher

Trained by Chad Brown, this two-year old Kentucky-bred colt will break from the No. 1 post on Friday as a 9/5 favorite on the morning line. Jockey Jose Ortiz will get the ride.

The son of Munnings is coming off a big victory in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park on Oct. 2. He covered the mile on dirt in 1:37.31 past Commandperformance and Wit. He started his racing career with a victory in a six furlong Maiden Special Weight race at Saratoga.

What Is a Trifecta Bet?

Place: Pinehurst

My second choice in the BC Juvenile recently won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity to gain some home track advantage for this race. He will go off ninth at 8/1 morning line odds with veteran jockey John Velazquez on board.

The son of Twirling Candy is one of three entries in this race trained by Bob Baffert.

Another one of Baffert’s colts in this race will break from the far outside No. 12 post with Mike Smith as his jockey. The son of Quality Road has been opened as the 5/2 second-favorite to win this race.

Cornishe moved near the top of the early rankings with a victory in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 1.

2021 Breeders’ Cup Classic Trifecta Predictions

When: Saturday, November 6th 2021

Win: Hot Rod Charlie

Breaking from the No. 3 post on Friday, this Kentucky-bred colt has posted a very successful three-year old campaign that includes a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby and a second- place run in the Belmont Stakes. He comes into this race at 4/1 odds on the morning line with jockey Flavien Prat getting the ride.

Trained by Doug O’Neill, Hot Rod Charlie won the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby on Sept. 25 to add even more momentum coming into this race.

What Is a Show Best?

Place: Essential Quality

After placing fourth at Churchill Downs in this year’s Kentucky Derby, the son of Tapit went on to win his next three races starting with the Belmont Stakes. You can add the Jim Dandy Stakes and the Travers to that list at two more Grade 1 victories.

Essential Quality will start fourth on Saturday at 3/1 odds which are the second-best on the early board. Trained by Brad Cox, he will have Luis Saez on board as his jockey.

Show: Knicks Go

The favorite to win this year’s BC Classic at 5/2 odds will break from the favorable No. 5 post with jockey Joel Rosario leading the way. Also trained by Cox, this five-year old Maryland-bred horse appears to be getting better with age.

The son of Paynter has won his last three races including this year’s Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in early August. He also won last year’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland.
