Louisiana at Louisiana Tech Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Our number has Louisiana Tech by 10.6. At -3, take Louisiana Tech.
Louisiana Tech opened as a 2.5-point favorite at DraftKings and is a 3-point favorite now. Our number is Louisiana Tech by 10.6. The gap is 7.6 points, and the threshold for a bet here is 3.
This page carried no line until now. It said Louisiana Tech was a bet at -9 or shorter, from a number of 12.0. Louisiana Tech’s 31-29 home win over Army on 3 October entered the sample and brought our number down to 10.6, which moves that limit to -7.5. The side has not changed: -3 is inside both.
How the number is built
Our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.
Louisiana Tech is 5-1 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 15.5 points a game across 6 games. Louisiana is 3-5 on the road against FBS teams, losing by 5.75 a game across 8 games. The difference is 21.25 points. Half of it is 10.625, which rounds to 10.6.
The base is 14 games, and 11 of them are from 2025. Louisiana Tech’s one 2026 game in it is the 2-point win over Army.
Louisiana Tech at home
Louisiana Tech beat New Mexico State 49-14, Southern Miss 30-20, Sam Houston 55-14 and Liberty 34-28 at home in 2025. The loss was 28-27 to Western Kentucky on 21 October 2025.
Two of those wins were by 35 points or more, and they carry much of the average. The other four home games were decided by 10 points or fewer. Its other 2026 home game was an 80-6 win over Northwestern State, a team outside the FBS, which the method leaves out.
Louisiana on the road
Louisiana won 31-22 at South Alabama and 34-30 at Arkansas State in 2025, and 34-7 at Charlotte on 26 September. It lost 52-10 at Missouri, 34-31 at Eastern Michigan, 24-14 at James Madison and 35-23 at Troy in 2025, and 49-30 at USC on 12 September.
The Missouri game is the outlier. Without its 42-point margin, Louisiana’s other seven road games average a 0.57-point loss, and our number would be Louisiana Tech by 8.0. Against -3 that is still a gap of 5.0, so the bet does not rest on that one result.
2026 so far
Louisiana Tech is 2-2 and 1-2 against FBS teams. It lost 45-14 at LSU and 36-19 at Baylor, then beat Army. Against FBS teams it has scored 21.3 points a game and allowed 36.7, a margin of -15.3.
Louisiana is 4-1 and 3-1 against FBS teams, scoring 27.0 and allowing 22.5 against them. Since this page was first written it has beaten Arkansas State 23-20 at home on 3 October. It also beat UAB 21-14 at home and Lamar 38-7, a team outside the FBS.
On this season alone Louisiana is the better side by 19.8 points a game: +4.5 against -15.3. That is the case against this bet. Both of Louisiana Tech’s heavy losses were on the road at LSU and Baylor, and the method reads only its home games.
Last season
Louisiana Tech went 8-5 in 2025 with an average margin of +6.5, 5-1 at home and 2-4 on the road. It won its bowl 23-14 over Coastal Carolina on 30 December 2025.
Louisiana went 6-7 at -3.2 a game, 4-2 at home and 2-4 on the road, and lost its bowl 20-13 to Delaware on 17 December 2025. The two teams did not meet in 2025 or so far in 2026.
The price
Louisiana Tech opened at -2.5 and is -3 now, read 8 October 2026 at 07:03 UTC at DraftKings via ESPN. That is a half-point move toward Louisiana Tech. Louisiana Tech -3 is priced at -108 and Louisiana +3 at -112.
The moneyline has Louisiana Tech at -148 and Louisiana at +124, from -125 and +105 at the open. With the margin removed, that prices Louisiana Tech to win 57.2% of the time. ESPN’s FPI has it closer, with Louisiana Tech at 52.8%.
The market and FPI both have this near a field goal either way. Our number has Louisiana Tech by more than 10, and that is the disagreement we are betting on.
Pick: Louisiana Tech -3
Louisiana Tech -3 at -108. The gap is 7.6 points against a 3-point threshold.
It rests on 14 games, split 6 and 8, each side past the 4-game minimum. At the open, Louisiana Tech -2.5, the gap was 8.1, and this was already a bet.
What changes it
The line. Louisiana Tech stays a bet up to -7.5, where the gap is 3.1. At -8 it is 2.6, and the call becomes a pass. Louisiana would need +14 to be the bet.
The sample is the other risk. Five of Louisiana Tech’s six home games are from 2025, and its two FBS losses this season went against it by 31 and 17. If 2025 no longer describes this team at home, our number is too high.
Availability is not stated here. Check the injury report before you bet.
The total
The total is 47.5, down from 50.5 at the open. The over is -105 and the under -115.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, Louisiana Tech’s games went over 47.5 in 10 of 15, and Louisiana’s in 9 of 16. This season Louisiana Tech’s four games produced 86, 59, 55 and 60 points, and Louisiana’s five produced 45, 79, 35, 41 and 43.
Pass on the total at 47.5. The longer samples lean over, but the 2026 medians, 59.5 and 43, sit on either side of the line, and the total has already dropped 3 points.
