Hurricanes vs Oilers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Hurricanes at -118. The price and our number agree to within a point: both make Carolina a slight road favourite in Edmonton.
The Edmonton Oilers are -102 and the Carolina Hurricanes -118 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 48.3% for Edmonton and 51.7% for Carolina. Our number gives the Oilers 47.6%, a gap of 0.7 points.
How 47.6% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at a neutral site are in neither half, and neither team played one.
The Oilers went 22-14-5 at Rogers Place: 22 wins, 14 regulation losses and 5 after regulation, a 53.7% home win rate over 41 games. The Hurricanes went 24-12-5 on the road and lost 17 of 41, a 41.5% road loss rate. The midpoint is 47.6% for Edmonton and 52.4% for Carolina.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -102 and -118 they come to 104.6%. Taken out, the Oilers are 48.3% and the Hurricanes 51.7%.
Every input is from 2025-26: 41 Edmonton home games and 41 Carolina road games. This season has started for both and none of it is in the figures. The Oilers are 7-1-1, 2-1-1 at home, and beat Minnesota 4-3 in overtime at home on Tuesday. Devon Levi has played six of their games and Tristan Jarry three. The Hurricanes are 8-2-1, 6-1-0 on the road, and won 6-3 in Vancouver on Tuesday. Pyotr Kochetkov has played six of their games and Brandon Bussi five.
Edmonton at home, Carolina on the road

The halves the method leaves out: Edmonton on the road went 19-16-6, a 46.3% win rate, scoring 3.39 and allowing 3.15. Carolina at home went 29-10-2, 70.7%, scoring 3.93 and allowing 3.07.
Over the full season the two finished 20 points apart. The Hurricanes went 53-22-7 with 113 points and outscored opponents by 56, then won four playoff series: Ottawa 4-0, Philadelphia 4-0, Montreal 4-1, and Vegas 4-2 in the final. The Oilers went 41-30-11 with 93 points, outscored opponents by 13, and lost 4-2 to Anaheim in the first round.
Carolina went 24-4-7 in one-goal games and won 14 of the 21 that went past regulation. Edmonton went 13-11-11 and won 9 of its 20.
The teams split the two meetings in 2025-26. Carolina’s 6-3 win in Edmonton on 6 March is in both halves of our number. Edmonton’s 4-3 overtime win in Carolina on 15 November is in neither.

What changes it
A longer price on either side. Against Carolina at -118, the Oilers become a bet at +149 or longer. Against Edmonton at -102, the Hurricanes become a bet at +120 or longer.
Frederik Andersen is on Edmonton’s injured reserve (ESPN injury list, read 22 October 2026, 14:10 UTC). He played none of the Oilers’ games last season, so he is not in our number and the method is not re-run without him. ESPN names no starter for Thursday. Edmonton also lists Jason Dickinson as out, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Alec Regula and Matt Savoie on injured reserve. Carolina lists Mark Jankowski as out, and Taylor Hall, Jordan Staal and Alexander Nikishin on injured reserve. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -110 and under -110. The Oilers’ games went over 6.5 in 48 of 82, the Hurricanes’ in 44 of 82. Edmonton’s home games averaged 6.90 goals, Carolina’s road games 6.07.
That is 58.5% and 53.7%, an average of 56.1% for the over. With the margin removed each side is priced at 50.0%, so our number leans to the over, by 6.1 points. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet: over 6.5 at -110.
The puck line has Carolina -1.5 at +205 and Edmonton +1.5 at -250, which is 31.5% and 68.5% without the margin. The Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games, and the Oilers lost by two or more in 19 of 82. Averaged, Carolina -1.5 lands 29.3% of the time against 31.5% priced, a gap of 2.2 points, nothing there. The call on the game stays no bet.
